The young girl knew nothing about kitchens and still lived at home. Probably has never even been in one! My worry is that I don't think I or my wife necessarily know a lot about kitchens either and we've been living out of home for about 20 and 15 years! What should we be keeping in mind? Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis homes 14276Feb 24, 2017 2:48 pm My husband and I are in our early 30s (ok he's late 30s) and only lived in apartments and well, didn't have kids until 2.5 years ago so had very little idea! Lots of pot draws. Apparently everyone knows this, as after we'd made the plans I was told my about 10 people we should have got just pot draws. We didn't. I was actually very impressed with WOS team we had that day from lighting to wardrobes to our amazing women who did the colour etc but unfortunately one of the most inportant parts of the house will be a bit of a let down. We plan on trying it for a year then getting pot draws put in Do others have good suggestions? What are you building, was it the Waldorf? We are doing plaza 49B Re: Porter Davis homes 14277Feb 24, 2017 4:24 pm sunshine83 My husband and I are in our early 30s (ok he's late 30s) and only lived in apartments and well, didn't have kids until 2.5 years ago so had very little idea! We are doing plaza 49B A good rule of thumb that we applied to our house design is, if it's under a bench top try to install a draw where you can. It's easier to turn a draw into a self afterwards with a divider or a stand than to the other way around. We like to stand in the display home kitchen and do a mock cook. That way you get a feel of where things should be placed and located. Bins next to the sinks, where your towel rails will be after you was your hands, where you sauce and spices will be. This applies to difference part of the house. Doing this we change a lot of thing at no cost to us, which side should the doors open, showers doors open so you can reach for the towels as you get step out. Location of the power point and like switches, data point for kids stays area. Hope that helps. Re: Porter Davis homes 14278Feb 24, 2017 5:06 pm walks lizbf85 Will keep you posted tomorrow after our PCI.. i actually feel sick in even going Hi Liz, I have been following your progress but not posted yet. I'm sorry the build process has been tough for you and that there has been more hurdles than there should have been. In my opinion you should embrace the experience, control the controllable's and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and once you are in it will all be worth it. Someone vandalized the bricks, that's not controllable and there is no point getting emotional about it, PD will fix it and it won't cost you a thing. Just a shift in thinking can have a positive effect. There have been a lot of negatives and negative venting from and this breeds and welcomes more negatives. The law of positive fruition, think positive and positive things just seem to happen. I don't mean any of this to be rude, it is supposed to be a pick me up to say at the end of the day it will be a positive outcome so ride the ups and downs and stay excited, you're almost there!! Think of getting the keys and moving your stuff in, decorating the house etc. and how good that is going to be. Thanks.. i certainly don't take that offensively....unfortunately when things go from bad to worse on a daily basis there just becomes a point when feeling positive is just not possible. And quite honestly after our PCI experience yesterday i want to move on and never think of this experience again. I even feel too embarrassed to share what has happened. It's almost incomprehensible. Re: Porter Davis homes 14279Feb 24, 2017 5:10 pm Naama nikil How much do they charge for variations? I know you pay for whatever it is you change but what is the admin fee? Basically after the tender you sign a document saying you won't be making any more structural changes and if you will then they'll charge you for drawing new plans and if they already submitted the 6 star energy then you'll need to pay to do the test again- it's done by an external company... I just want to know if it's reasonable to ask them to cover these things as this is a result of them misleading me? I would say good luck with making a structural change at this point. Unless you have sufficient evidence that they mislead you then you'be probably got buckleys. It might be the industrial slider that your after, from memory its about $2500 Re: Porter Davis homes 14280Feb 25, 2017 9:08 am lizbf85 Naama nikil How much do they charge for variations? It might be the industrial slider that your after, from memory its about $2500 The more I look at the drawings the more frustrated I get. It is a tiny tiny door, I can't believe we were told it's the same size as the display, it's more like a third. It ruins the main area of the house. I don't mind paying the 2,500 for the door if that's how much the door costs, I just don't think we should pay the fine and the new 6 star energy because it was Porter Davis's misleading us that made this happen. The bc emailed back to me saying she can't see in the sales that we wanted a bigger door... seriously??? did you even read my email??? that's the whole issue! the fact that we were told that the standard will be much bigger than it really is. why would anyone have in writing- 'yes, the standard is the same size that you saw on the display'. FRUSTRATING!!! Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12336 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74701 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
