Friday afternoon, no tiles... and it looks like there has only been a layer of the waterproofing paste smeared on the floor this week... thats it for the entire week. :/ How on earth do they expect to be finished in 3 weeks??? They have promised we will be in before christmas, but its looking slimmer and slimmer.. For those who are finished now, how long was it from this stage for you? we've no tiles, no paint, no toilets, the cornicing is still on the floor... No mirrors, no shower glass, no benchtops in the bathroom (granite) no taps, no appliances... We've basically only got the kitchen in, vanities in place, doors hung and shelving and the skirting is in place. I know its not a great deal of work to get it finished, but it seems impossible when there is wasted weeks left, right and centre... Our blog: http://durhamsadventure.blogspot.com Re: Who is building with Beechwood 1466Nov 19, 2011 9:04 am coastie 1- Wow, you ARE flying along. Good to see. Hope they keep up the momentum. Our frame was suppose to be delievered yesterday but because we changed something on the plan, it will be on our block on Monday. That's about it. Sarbear-You will definately be finished before me as we have different contract times. I'm 30 weeks. So make that 40 weeks to be on the safe side from other people's experience. Can't see windows being delivered when no frame is up. Looks great and i must say the SS we have is excellent no complaints here. Always able to answer questions and give honest answers. Hopfully looking at second week in Dec all going well. Sarbear hopefully u will have same SS. MR yours is moving along as well. I am just going to do some research in how to upload pics so i can post some on here. Naynay did u get Costas to put in any extra ceiling fans etc when they did the electrical fitout? Penny p.s I have uploaded on photobucket can anyone tell me how to then get them on here? Great news about being done before Xmas. Yes, we have the same supervisor, hopefully we have him the whole time. Can't wait to see photos. Speaking of costas, are they generally slow in doing their quotes. We paid for phone connection about a month ago. We also asked for price for various things, still waiting. It seemed they were only interested in doing phone line. Sounds like they have forgotten you. I always got a quote within a couple of days. Coastie should be able to answer your question regarding the timeframe for putting up your frame as she has had hers put up already. I'm positive it takes more than a couple of days for the whole frame and roof though. Hello Penny. Good to see you are still here. Looking forward to your photos too. If you just click on your photo 3 or 4 boxes should pop up on photobucket. Click on the IMG code.....I think it's the bottom box. Then paste here. Hope that helps. I want to see your photos!!!! I found it was easier to let them do it and faster as u dont have to co-ordinate when to let another electrician in. Although when i got the price i didnt realise GST wasnt included so just keep an eye on that. But they were much the same price as anyone else. You probably will have SS all the way through he is really nice. How are u finding yours MR? Any pics to share? When u pic tiles just have a second choice in mind as i had to change kitchen splashack and bathroom floor tiles as they were out of stock and wouldnt be in before i needed them but they had a great selection and i was prepared to upgrade but i think it only cost $300 extra for feature tiles and soap dished etc as the colour i wanted were new stock in and included in the BW range for the family room. There are a few things we are still waiting on but hey, you cant rush these things - afterall, its Beechw00d your talking about. We are starting to think more about the landscaping and ect. we know we need to do some retaining walls, but we arent sure if to do the blocks like jacknruby but in grey or go with sleepers and stain them the same colour as our front door, we have priced both up and there both going to cost roughly the same. We are just sitting on it and thinking about it, luckily they only small about 400mm and bring on a rural block we arent upsetting anyone but leaving them. We have been busy finishing off the inside of the house - we installed our blinds a few weeks ago, we went with white eco venetians timber slates. There lovely. Here is the kitchen all finished now Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ we just love how all the colours have came together. I'd go with the timber stain to stay with the country theme. But that's just me. Well here I go. The roller coaster ride has begun. No frame was delievered today. Supposed to be on site last Friday and now today. Rang BW at lunchtime and they....of course said, "It is sheduled for delievery today". Well, blow me down......it did'nt turn up!! And now we are told because I changed a window around I'm on the bottom of the list and have to wait another 2 WEEKS!!!!!! Can't see the frame starting before Xmas. I promised myself I would be prepared for this crap but it is still very frustrating. Our neighbour is who is building an investment property with BW is having the same issues regarding the tiles. Looks like BW haven't addressed the tile debacle. Crazy. We are just loving the house, we are having a BBQ here on the weekend, for about 15 of the local families from either playgroup or preschool, we live in a small rural town that relies on the community involvement so hubby joined the local cricket team - he hadnt played for 6 yrs and played his first game on sat and top scored in batting, he was very sore, but he is a very good player. already been involved in a few do's in the area, a hens night, something has been on every weekend since we moved here that involved our neighbours, either a bbq or something at the local pub. Jacnruby - congrates on nearly finishing the gardens, wanna come do mine...aarrrhhh, mine wont be finished for another few yrs i wouldnt imagine, just little bits at a time, cant wait till april next yr when we can start burning again, we had lots of dead debris in a huge pile ready for a huge bonfire. Came in a little higher then we had anticipated. This poses some questions and hopefully we can get anyone's advice. We had the following quoted: W/proof double power point to alfresco 3 speaker connections ran up ceiling and down wall S/steel downlight to entry Install 2 x up/down lights to garage wall Supply and install tv antenna and booster Austar connection and plate in tv recess Alarm system Single power point behind wall mounted tv Doorbell Hard wired light fittings Three eave mounted external lights Install 6 ceiling fans Looking at the list, most items either need to be installed during build o ar cheaper to be done now rather then after handover. Is there anything in list that can easily be done after handover? If so, are we likely to save much money? Kind of feel just going with Costas to save the hassle but if big saving can be made then would look at this.
