If you have a read around the boards you'll find most other builders are very slow also. I think Masterton are doing 32 week builds. Crazy. I've decided to start all over again with my plan. It puts us back 3 months but hey, what's 3 months when it's taking nearly 2 years to build these days? I don't mind as long as I get the house I want. Apparently "M" said that she has never met anyone like me who changes plans so many times. I know. I'm one in a million. Won't have anything to show for another 4 weeks. Happy building everyone! I will put a rough plan up so you can have a look. I changed my mind as I always wanted a large open plan family, dining kitchen area right across the back of my house with large windows looking out to the bush. We are putting a deck across the back and with a solarium it becomes more $$$$. I actually got your idea Acre1 about the living/dining area, where you can use cavity sliders and it becomes part of the family area. IYKWIM? Great idea. True about slabs with rain. They will actually hose down slabs if it is too hot so not to crack. Looking forward to watching everyones progress. Very exciting. Due to another contractor problem Beechwood has now changed contractors and we are booked in for earthworks FOR THE 3RD TIME on Tuesday. That will put us at 70 f%@#ing days without anything being done at all. And now the rain is here so who knows what other delays we're going to be stuck with. We did everything right to get things through as quickly as we could so the house would be as close to lock up as possible before the autumn rain and now here we are, nearly 6 weeks into our build time and nothing has been done at all. The house is ment to be done in early September. We've made so many plans and now I'm worried we won't be done in time to do the flooring and move in before Christmas. And it's not because of rain or something we haven't done. I've never heard of this many delays through a building company before things have even started. I'm sooo angry and dissappointed and bloody stressed!!!!! I think my patience has gone from wearing thin to worn through. Nope they started the piering, then council turned up and weren't happy with the ground levels and then they found they needed a bigger machine anyway to make the holes coz they're going to have to dig down quite deep... we were told they'd be back today to do it but just heard they aren't coming coz of the rain. Mel - you would think BW would know better, sounds as though it was a 'that'll do' attitude, luckily it was inspected so its done right. Hopefully this wont mean more delays for you. MR - i know what you mean, it will make the house massive, I like the cavity sliders, we put a few inthe house. The ones between the formal lounge/dining (which is our kids toy room) means that we can close off the room if the kids are watching TV or playing loudly etc while we can still do our 'thing' out in the living area. our frame is being delivered Monday and windows wednesday. So lets hope that end of next week the frame will be completed etc. Our Acreage Build The Lakeview Lodge - Beechwood Homes 01/04/10 YES 2010 - Deposit paid 23/09 - PCI CANCELLED 28/09 - PCI - will it happen.-18 months later 07/10/11 - ITS OURS..WOOHOO Re: Who is building with Beechwood 411Apr 28, 2011 1:57 pm 2.2-OMG! I would be more inclined to have half wall so you over look the livings rooms, or maybe even mirror reverse the kitchen and move the CS to the other end of the kitchen (IYKWIM) Also that lovely wall opposite the bed 4 i would put linen presses along that - i know you have the other linen presses but i know with my few linen presses through the house with the 2 boys there wont be enough so will have to sort something out later on. I would move the access to the laundry to the hallway - so you dont have to go right around through the living rooms to put the dirty clothes in the laundry. Just another idea, maybe you could put a WIL press in that spare space next to the laundry. (just a thought) I would also reconfigure the kitchen to make the WIP bigger and the fridge space larger - have a look at my plans to see what i mean ( hope i didnt offend with some of the changes, there only my personal opinions Looks great. I changed the laundry door as I practically live in my laundry in the mornings and it's more accessible from kitchen. The kitchen bench is half wall to look out to the back. I'll go back and check out your pantry. I don't want to upset 'M' anymore than I have to as I've become some what of a nuisance at Beresfield. So the less changes I do, the better. But thanks anywho. Much appreciated. P.s I'm sure Beresfield have a dart board in their office with my photo on it. Well, we are suppose to be starting earthworks again tomorrow but now the rain seems to have set in we're not holding our breath. Have had no response from Beechwood from my email asking if it is possible to get the house done on time (barring any weather delays). They took all day Friday (in the rain) and some of the pier holes were 4.5m deep! ended up costing us about $4,500 extra in piering due to the extra depth required, but we were expecting/dreading it to be dearer than that, so i guess it's good news. Now waiting for them to do drainage etc so the slab can be laid. Bloody rain!! its supposed to rain all week! aaahhhh!! I am sure everyone is as frustrated as i am - we need to do a non-rain dance!
