Would love to see what you have done. Remember you have 120 days to pick it to pieces once settlement is done. what do you mean pick up to pieces.. meaning they will repair stuff. we went for a walk through (should be the final walkthrough) but they have not removed the trash yet. Will send the photos soon. I have not updated the blog since November. Noticed that uploading to Facebook from the iphone is faster Elmer Re: Who is building with Beechwood 345Apr 15, 2011 3:07 pm Hi, we are building with Beechwood and so far not too happy with them... Firstly I just cant believe the red tape involved in all of the building process and not sure how any money is made in that industry. We signed off on a block of land beginning of November 2010 (mind you this was the second block as we were * too with the registration of the other block we tried to purchase) anyway we have been given a complete run around... 11 weeks it took for our plans to be drawn up, then because they lacked to take note of a window we wanted deleted it was in for a further 4 weeks... each step of the way seems to have a Ridiculous time frame attached... im not sure if we are over reacting and 8 months is the actual time the whole process takes (June is when im hoping a slab or something is done) can someone please advise me if once the contracts are signed its all pretty easy going from there, or are we in for more drama... my husband is about to pull the pin on the whole project... we are still 2 weeks from signing a contract (even though its out of council) Apparently it takes 14 days to draw up a contract (even though all tenders have been done and signed off months ago) but it has to go back in to tender to add all colour selections (also done months ago) i cant believe it... is there any positive news or are we in for more trouble... Re: Who is building with Beechwood 346Apr 15, 2011 3:12 pm I think you only need to read back a few pages to see that its not an easy ride, we signed with BW in April 10 and wont have a slab until next week. From what i can see with Kathy (just starting) and Jacknruby that when the slab goes down then there quick to finish the project. What office are you dealing with? Where are you building? What house are you building? I would love to pull the pin, but DH won't let me. Quote: then because they lacked to take note of a window we wanted deleted it was in for a further 4 weeks... No, I'm sure that they noticed you wanted that window deleted, it's something they are taught at their conferences they have. It's called a DELAY tactic. It happens to everyone. Just my opinion of course. Just too co-incidental for my liking. Cheers! Building Hermitage 2005 (Upper Hunter) Paid Deposit (October 2010) Re: Who is building with Beechwood 348Apr 15, 2011 3:38 pm it only gets easy once they have begun to dig and level off the land... but at that point.. it is the rains that controls the schedule. i think every builder has their own intricacies. my other friends who built with other builders has their own heartaches. we had the final approval of the plans (via private certifier), signed the final contract, gave them the letter from the bank... then 4 weeks later, they call me for a review of the plan. they missed out the design of the sewer! so we had to go back to the private certifier, etc... anyway.. didn't blog or wrote about much about it.. but we just thought we want it finished with less issues. Re: Who is building with Beechwood 349Apr 15, 2011 3:54 pm once im in the house and enjoying the peace we have out at our property this heartache/frustration hubby and I are all going through will be a distance memory and couldnt speak highly enough of BW... Building Hermitage 2005 (Upper Hunter) Paid Deposit (October 2010) Re: Who is building with Beechwood 351Apr 16, 2011 11:11 am noringv Hi, we are building with Beechwood and so far not too happy with them::angry:: I totally agree with everyone else. We signed contracts in Feb. On Tuesday we will be 28 days PAST the inital 28 days they were meant to get started and we still don't have a start date. I could cry it's so frustrating But like everyone else I have seen that once they get started things seem to move pretty quickly. My husband and I looked at a house by Beechwood yesterday that was an untouched block just a couple of weeks ago and yesterday the frame was up. In our case we know we wouldn't find another plan that we love as much as the one we have + like everyone else I've never heard of anyone building with BW who wasn't completely happy with the end result. I can't say I've ever heard anyone say they were completely happy with the process of building no matter who the builder is. A delay early on with this one doesn't seem so bad when you've seen other peoples homes take 2 years to build when they were ment to take 6 months. If you love your design and starting over with a new builder would take you longer than there's not much point quiting now. At least with this forum you have a lot of people who understand the frustration and can offer advice. And it is nice to see other people moving along and knowing that will be you.......eventually! 20/4 - Earthworks 25/5 SLAB 9/6 Frame 21/6 Roof 5 - 22/7 Bricking 1/8 Gyprocking 16 - 18/08 Faulty Trusses repaired 17/08 Kitchen in 07/09 Tilers 15/09 Painters 30/9 Plumbers finished 7/10 Settled Re: Who is building with Beechwood 352Apr 17, 2011 9:09 am Quote: But like everyone else I have seen that once they get started things seem to move pretty quickly Hi, It's Livin' the Dream here. Had to change username. Anywhoo......is'nt it a 24 week build? Is'nt that 6 months? That is a ridiculous amount of time to build a house. I've also noticed, some people's build are flying along, while others like yours, you poor thing, are at a snails pace. This thread is a fantastic resource for other people thinking about building with certain builders. I must love building as I've done it 5 times before. I am going to get an independent building inspector to inspect each critical stage of the building (hope to not have any trouble with getting them onto the site) I just don't trust them (wish i did) but reading all the reviews I'm not taking chances with any building mob! I don't get it if the whole building system was re looked at the government wouldn't need to give out incentives to young couples to build, people would want to. I hope it's all worth it at the end of the day cas it's sure been a bumpy unpleasant long *** ride! Re: Who is building with Beechwood 358Apr 17, 2011 9:47 pm acrebuild 1 - That's Great!! Hope thins keeps moving along for you guys. It will be great to watch things getting done! Well, according to the weather channel the upper hunter can expect good weather till Friday then it's rain on and off for the next week:( I'm sure BW will use this as an excuse to not give us a start date (up to 56 days tomorrow) but I will be phoning and emailing tomorrow in hope of some news. Fingers, toes and everything else I can manage are crossed. Have been told that even though the construction hasn't begun (leaving 20 weeks left to build) the house should be done within that time. As you know it is a pretty big house so I guess we'll just have to see. Have noticed there are ALOT of people who follow this forum and never write a word. I can't help but wonder how many people have seen this and gone with another builder......... I have friends that sent in their plans to some local builders and the price was enormous.......looks like they are going with Beechwood also.
