My kitchen and bathroom/toilet share a common wall. I've heard that this is bad Feng shui. It supposedly affects your finances. Can anyone clarify if this is correct?

We are renovating the house so we may be able to relocate the toilet but it will be expensive so I'd rather not do it if it's not necessary. Does anyone know if there are any Feng Shui cures for this?

Well, I guess this depends how seriously you take this feng shui stuff, if at all

Our ensuite backs onto the back wall of kitchen cupboards and in our old house one wall of the kitchen backed onto the laundry and the other onto the bathroom.

But, despite this, I think we are in a good financial position (could have more to do with steady employment and a thrifty lifestyle though :th: )

Yes, very bad financial feng shui. You will hate the smell from the toilet coming into the kitchen, so you will eat out all the time, then eventually get so sick of it that you will locate the toilet to the other side of the house, costing you a fortune

If the Stove and Toilet bowl is back to back on the same wall, this is no good FENG Shui. Try to avoid the Sink and the Stove back to back on the same wall as well.

Cheers!

Thank you for the replies.

Yes the stove and toilet are back to back on a common wall. Do you know of any feng shui cures to remedy this?

The best I suggest is to see which one, the stove or the toilet is more easy to move!

Cheers!

The kitchen should neither face the front nor back door or the staircase or bathroom or an adjoining room as such a placement encourages bad health, arguments among family members and overall bad luck.

Bit hard to have a kitchen not faceing any adjoining room :?

Well, certainly not in open space designs :th:

Our kitchen in previous house had a door to hallway and one to laundry and front opened to the dining area - current kitchen opens to dining/family area - this covering the last 24 years of my life; surprisingly I have been in very good health and happiness. ::lol::

From that basic information, as it has next to zero effect on the flows of Chi around your house, there is no reason for this to have any affect on your finances.

This is where Feng Shui gets a bad name, where people know enough to be dangerous but not enough to be useful. Yes the bath room represents removal of waste, and the kitchen represents wealth and prosperity. But that doesn't mean putting the two back to back with a wall between them that you will remove your prosperity. The wall separates the flows of Chi from either room, and unless there is a door between them, will negate any affect of one on the other.

I would be more worried about if a toilet is opposite the front door or at the centre of the house.

If you seriously consider feng shui in your home, then it's bad especially if the sink and toilet bowl are back to back. You can check some feng shui websites.
