HI All!
Needing a bit of advice, I am going to get a new dining table set we have a marble one at the moment that we got second hand here is a pic of it (taken at the owners house before we bought it)
our house is all open plan so dining table sits with living area on one side and opposite our kitchen. So i want to make sure that it blends and ties in with all our other colours, which for the most part is greys.
I cant find a picture of where it is actually going but here is pics of the kitchen it will be next to and the living room.
So do what colour timber do you think we could use that would match in nicely with our current scheme?
Tables we like are like some of these, but I really think we will have to go for a modern shape even though i quite like the rusticness of this one below. My concern is really getting a timber that wont look out of place with our laminate black/grey woodgrain kitchen cabinets...

Hi inamet09
Have to say I love your Kitchen - your island bench is gorgeous . That table in your picture is just beautiful but I agree that by the look of your home you are probably going to have to go something a bit more modern so it doesn't look out of place. I personally think you could make that timber work depending of what sort of chairs you put with it. Have you already got chairs. That timber would definately add alot of warmth. With your colours I would stay away from red toned woods ie Jarrah, Red Gum, Blue Gum and also try stick with darker colours as I think they would would better with the purple which you seem to have in that space. I think Walnut or a really dark stain would work really well in that area but if you want to add warmth it may not work as well unless you want to add some opulent chairs which would soften the look.
I had a look on houzz for similar colour combos and added them into an ideabook which the link is below

It is all looking fantastic. I would steer clear of red toned timber. Maybe a natural looking timber with bits of black showing through, and black chairs. [ img ][/URL

We have an almost identical style & colour scheme to you . I would be trying maybe white chairs with the table so it ties in with the rest of the room (maybe in gloss acrylic so it matches your other furnture).

Great, thanks. I'm "window shopping" and jotting down what I like and where I can get. Our build hasn't started yet (still at council) so probably won't be a while til I actually buy anything. Your daughter dining table and chairs looks lovely. Also saw similar on a tv show this week too!

I think my builder is still away in the UK.
So in the next couple of weeks I'll get all my new fascias, gutters and down pipes done. That way the boys won't be tripping over each other onsite at the same time.
