Just wondering if anyone has installed an in floor bathtub?

I am planning my bathroom renovation and as my house is elevated and has floorboards i am exploring the option of installing a bathtub that is flush with the floor level.

Just wondering if there is anything i need to consider and if any extra supports are required or will a timber frame secured to the timber flooring be sufficient?

A few pics of what im talking about: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=in+fl ... 66&bih=673

HELP!

Has anyone had experience installing an in-floor bath or seen a bathroom containing one?

My thinking is that an in-floor bathtub will open my bathroom up giving it a spacious look as well as unique touch.

Does anyone have any opinions or thoughts around this!

Sorry for me it would be a massive no go!

First - small kids don't have the sense to stop at the edge. Add water and that to me equals disaster.

Second - imagine cleaning inside the bathtub. You would either have to lie on the floor or alternatively hop in to clean.

Thirdly - imagine an elderly / infirm person trying to get into the bath.

Sorry I'd have to agree with Kyton too.

Having small kids I wouldn't feel safe with having something like that in my house.

I have to agree with previous posters. I have young kids and the thought of giving them a bath down that low makes my back ache thinking about it. Would be really difficult to hold young children in there and to be lifting them in and out. Not a problem if you don't have young kids but it may adversely affect the re-sale appeal if potential buyers have young kids or are thinking of having kids in the future.

Just editing as I also wanted to add, the people who use a bath the most are young kids. Young kids in general tend to be bathed more than showered so the bath gets used A LOT. Families with older kids or couples without kids at home are more likely to only use the bath on the odd occassion. Therefore for someone looking to buy a house, if they've got young kids or are about to start a family a practical bath is quite important.
