Congrats, the house looks great!! I can't help but laugh that we were on the same timeline at the beginning and now your house is finishing just as mine is beginning!

I love the landscape design, especially the river stones! It will be very low maintenance which is what we all want these days really. Check out the landscape & garden design section, Fu Manchu is a WA poster who always gives good advice on landscape plans.

I'm quite partial to peppermint trees as they remind me of my childhood holidays with my grandparents in Busso but I know they can also be a major PITA. Can't wait to see pics of the garden once it's done.

Thanks dayow and McLaren! I've had to make a small modification to the landscaping plan to keep council happy (same day response when I submitted it for approval!) So will be getting a new design on Monday which I'll share with you all, along with pics of the house!

Thanks heaps! It's been great so far! Started moving stuff in straight away. Moved all the stuff that was in my room at the folks place in boxes, etc and from the spare room, plus the matress and the few appliances that had been stored on the back verandah. Just slept on the matress the first night on the floor, but will get you all anupdate soon!!!!

Well here you go folks. Some pics of me all moved in! Was a busy 6 days at home but sooo worth it. I'm not quite finished, but now it's only stuff that I had before I decided to build a house thats left to go. All that personal stuff that takes time to sort out. My sister however has managed to move in almost completely before I have (she finished moving in yesterday! Although she had a lot les moving to do ::: ). Anyways, enough chit chat...more pics!!!

A couple of small things that have happened in the first few days of getting settled. Assembling the dining setting Friday night, we discovered that 7 of the 8 chairs were faulty (wobbly or completely refused to be assembled) so I reboxed them and took them back Saturday (but not the table). I was told that they had to wait till Monday (turned out to be Tuesday before they could get an answer), but ultimately, they couldn't replace the chairs (no longer made) so wrote the stock off and gave me a full store credit. And on top of that, they felt sorry for me so let me keep the table!!! A free table for me and more money to spend right at christmas time! ::lol::

The only other small thing I've noticed is the hole cut in the tile for one of the ensuite shower taps is larger than the surround and will need filling, and the builder is sending someone out Monday to look at it (I was too tall to notice at PCI).

Landscaping is stil to come (probs in Feb) but the verge area has been approved by council and I have signed off on the final plan. Here it is!

Looking good Snagger. Shame about the dining chairs, but I do love that table. Can't wait to see the artwork up on the walls and the garden!

Thats fantastic SS, you are in before me! hahah. must be stoked to be in!

House is looking great, the landscaping will make such an impact to the look of the house as well, really finished it off!

Are you going to be living in the house by yourself or you going to have some tenants?

Hi all! Thanks for the comments! It's great being in. To answer your question wrex, yes. My sister moved in the day I left to fly out to work (she didn't waste any time) and I potentially have a mates gf moving in in Jan when she starts her new job nearby. The 2nd bedroom (the small one) will stay empty as sleep over/storage (much needed storage!) space ::lol:: So there'll be people there when I'm not at home to keep the place looking lived in which is good. Just gotta make sure my sisters dog stays off the couch!

Ditto that , doesn't look half bad for the beginning of a move, my place looked like a Vietnam war nightmare when moving in.
Two months later and I was still finding the neighbors pets buried under a pile of boxes in the spare rooms. ::lol::

How's the progress now.

Hi all! Sorry for the slightly extended leave of absence, but I've been busy enjoying my new house ::lol:: Thanks for all your well wishing. I've spent the last few days outside in the searing heat with some dedicated mates and the obligated family member (love ya dad!) & beautiful girlfriend digging trenches for ag pipe to disperse the roof runoff/stormwater. In total we probably dug about 35metres worth of 600mm trenches, which we then put 50-100mm of blue metal in the bottom, laid tge ag pipe, plumbed it in to the drains, added mroe blue metal and back filled! Also skimmed some sand around in the front yard to bulk up around the retaining wall where my mate took a little too much away, but haven't quite finished yet.

Landscaping is set to start on the 7th with the irrigation and should be finished on the 9th (front and rear). That will happen while I'm at work so you'll have to to wait for pics, but I'll try get the ones of our awesome efforts from the last few days up for ya'll to have a gander at. ::cool::

P.S. Also got my latest tenant living in the house too. My best mates girlfriend has moved into the other back room, bringing the live in population to 3 (although I'm only part time live in ::surprise:: )

Ok, so I have finally managed to get dining chairs!!! Woot Woot! ::cool:: The first lot that came with the table were stuffed, so they wrote the whole lot off and let me keep the table with a full store credit, which I used to order a new set of chairs. Anyways, last week I went in and after a quick call to the supplier, it turns out theres none left and they're not making any more! Bugger. Thought, I'm in a bit of a hurry and wasn't sure what to do, so I just left the order in limbo with the intention of going back to claim it later. Monday rolled around and I received a phone call saying my chairs were in. ::lol:: Must've been in transit which is why there were none left ::study:: Anyways, here they are!

Also, I've started on the landscaping works. I've had the front yard levelled out by a mate with a bobcat to the required level for the landscaping company to do there thing, and we've put in 35 metres of Ag Pipe for all the downpipes out the back of the house (but not the 4 down the dead side). One of the front pipes was already piped away somewhere, and after a bit of probing we found a soak well. Saved us digging another 10 metre trench for the 2 front downpipes cos we just plummed the second one into it as well.

We had to dig about 40 metres of trench about 600mm deep....on a 35+C day. Thankfully Dad and a cppl of mates helped me dig it all out and put it all together.

Borrowed Dad's gazebo which made a HUGE difference letting us work in the shade ::cool::

Also kudos to the gf for keeping us well watered and also lending a hand on the shovels ::kiss::

I've still got a little more digging to do when I get back from work next week. One of the drains is crooked and on a lean so will be digging it up again to straighten it all out. Also gotta skim some sand from the back yard to bring down the level a little and will be dumping it out the front to bulk up around the retaining wall where my mate got a bit carried away with his bobcat ::study:: Gotta have it all done before the 7th though because thats when the landscapers move in to get it all prettied up! :z: :z: :z: Looking forward to being able to sit back and watch my grass grow with a beer in hand ::lol::

nice work and look at all that lovely sand.

If you want to give your gardens a bit of a helping hand before the landscapers come in you can buy bulk bentonite clay in bags form the parkland plant nursery ( Lot 11 picton-boyanup rd) and the spa and pool place jsut off picton road in bunbury can get in zeolite for you or I believe you can buy it at the clark rubber.( the guys at the busso one told me all stores stock it. they call it zelbrite) get a couple of bags of each into that sand.
