It looks pretty good on paper - I haven't checked prices yet and I have calculated that I will need about 10 litres - so we will see what the budget is like when I get to that point
From what I understand it is easier to put something on the garage floor before it gets dirt/oil on it, so it is best done sooner rather than later

Paul, that looks great. I do plan on doing services within the garage which means at some point I will drop oil / brake fluid / et cetera on the garage floor. And if that surface makes it easier to clean off that would be great

The first thing we did after handover and before we moved in was seal the garage floor. We used Staseal Premium Sealer in a mid grey colour, and it has been fantastic.
It has worn away a little where the tyres go, but apart from that, it makes it so much easier to sweep the garage floor and you don't get the concrete dust through your house as it's our main entrance for the family is from garage to house.
This is only a paint and will come off in places. If you want a really professional look that will last and last, then I'd get an epoxy put on it.

The best kind of coverings are 2 part Epoxy, they will last the longest and are the most durable. I spent about $900 for Sikafloor HS High Solids Epoxy Coating for a 60 sq metre garage. The best $900 I ever spent on a coating, my wife even loves it:):)
I did mine in this last Sat. http://www.dymark.com.au/coatings/Produ ... oduct=1055 Looks amazing. Mine being a new build, it was important to "etch". The etch acid is also included in the kit. Was around $200 for aprox 44 sq mt floor

Interesting, $200 is pretty reasonable and I have 36m^2 of garage
Any one with experience with Cementaid? I'm am looking at applying diamite + rokite in the garage. Its aparently is a pentrating type concrete hardener and sealer respectively. Might be overkill but like the idea of toughening up the concrete surface by filling pores as opposed to coating it (I'm a grease monkey who likes to weld, hammer, drag engines across my floor).

Any form of densifying the concrete will make it harder. Less subject to 'damage'... though fillers are not normally considered densifying. Densifiers normally would ingress the concrete substrate and capillary fill and with a chemical change and 'harden' the substrate. Thanks for the heads up theanonyuser .
onc_artisan, what products would you recommend? The Dymark sealer is around $200 so that seems like a reasonable price to me, or is there a better product I should consider using for the garage floor?
It's purpose made for garages and can handle all the water and oil spills etc that occur in a garage. It floats over the concrete and can go straight over the expansion gaps in the concrete. It comes in around 30 or so colours including steel, stones and woods.
