Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 30, 2011 10:27 pm So... after being overseas for a year, I return home to find that my house-sitter has mowed the lawn once in 12 months, and didn't use a catcher. Now the lawn normally browns off over the winter, but at the moment, only about 10% of it is greening up again, and the rest of it only has about 2-3 blades per square inch of soil. The rest is clippings that appear to have compacted and when I scrape them back, it's just bare dirt with a few blades of brown grass... I'm hoping to put the house on the market in the next few weeks, is there anything I can do to bring it back in that timeframe? What's going on here? 2Aug 31, 2011 11:46 pm You can get green dye that you could spray it with. It is used to mark where you have sprayed. All good garden centres sell it and is found in red or green. You could also try green food dye, both will be temporary. There are other methods sometimes recommended by the more ignorant in Horticulture but they will come back to bite you if the house doesn't sell fast. The following is not by any means an endorsement (in any capacity) of what you should be using on lawns. http://www.globeaustralia.com.au/turf/p ... others.htm Re: Help! Grasses are really hard to kill but to the untrained eye, its brown so must be dead. It will be back just fine. When roughly more than a 1/3 of the leaf has been taken off the turf will brown. I can get lawns, thought long dead, come back to near perfection in a matter of months. In your case, there is no quick solution. In time it will come back so either the dye, or as Mecha said. Roll on turf. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
