Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jun 22, 2011 8:52 pm I've built 4 houses over the past 3 years through a building company, now building my first owner-builder home ( and have another 3 blocks to subdivide over the coming years) I find the lack of professionalism in the industry very frustrating. My interior designer is threatening to send me to the debt collectors over a piddly debt when they haven't completed the promised schedule. I have emailed 4 brick suppliers a month ago for quotes - no reply to date. Today I called 2 of these companies to get the message " we'll call you later today" - no call I've emailed carpenters and bricklayers through the yellow pages - no replies. I find it bemusing however, that when I met my yellow pages consultant to renew my business ad he mentioned that trades people keep complaining that they never get any work from the yellow pages. Perhaps they should reply to emails and messages. Anyway, I'm slowly getting there. One victory for owner builders is that the trades are very quiet these days and I have managed to knock many thousands off the costs so far Re: Why does it have to be so frustrating 2Jun 22, 2011 9:31 pm Most places werent interested in quoting us til closer to the time they were required to start Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated!
