It does vary depending upon the room shape but it has worked really well. We have white walls, ceiling and darkish floors. The amount of light is great. Also, put some thought into how you want your downlights banked (ie how many turn on per switch). You can save a lot in lighting costs by only having the lights on that you really need. (ie. if you have a big room with 8, have 2 lots of 4 or 4 lots of 2).
