Re: Joint room, same or different lights? 14Jan 09, 2011 4:21 pm That window in the dining room is almost floor to ceiling and I will be eventually making a feature outside the window, so, I wonder if I should not make too much of a statement with the light over table? It will be obtrusive. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Joint room, same or different lights? 15Jan 09, 2011 4:25 pm I was going to agree with Southies about making a statement with the lighting over the dining room table and keeping the living room simpler but that does make it more confusing (the outside feature). Good luck with it. My post has been entirely useless to you! Sorry! Re: Joint room, same or different lights? 16Jan 09, 2011 4:28 pm Any thoughts are welcome & appreciated fb! Yes I just threw a spanner in the works didn't I? I just realised about the window. I feel a sprkkly wine coming on....best get to cooking dinner. Thanks everyone. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Joint room, same or different lights? 17Jan 09, 2011 4:31 pm hmm maybe you could get a "flush to ceiling" version of the pendant that you put in the lounge area? there were flush versions of my pendants... or just do two flushes. or make a feature of the lounge room light and make that a bit different.... just throwing ideas out there "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. Re: Joint room, same or different lights? 18Jan 09, 2011 4:45 pm I think our room/s are approx. same size (although it looks like we have a totally different floor plan for this room and the surrounding rooms too). Love what Southies wrote as I was feeling the same - nothing too busy and eye catching (for us) and definitely nothing that hangs low. It would, firstly, jusy be overwhelming and secondly, long ones wouldn't even be practical (having to fight off a low hanging pendant into which I'd ocassionally get entangled - ). Anyway, do you have high ceilings? If yes, then you could afford something hanging on a bit longer cord/wire. Me - I'll be going for something "light" (ie. not bulky) and fairly close to ceiling. Would love a "statement" light somewhere, but it would be totally wrong in our room. For this room, I'll probably get us a Fiorelli 3 (or maybe even 5, but that would be pushing it - it's more suited to higher ceilings), or just the lovely Hunter which is quite close to ceiling and therefore head-friendly . Both are "light and airy" in design and wouldn't interfere with the rest of the decor. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Joint room, same or different lights? 19Jan 09, 2011 5:59 pm Yes we have 9ft ceilings Lex so it is something to also take into consideration, good point. That "flush" idea is also another good idea donuts....I'll sleep on it. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Joint room, same or different lights? 20Jan 10, 2011 7:51 pm kyton See I am the opposite!! I like matching things so I would have matching - maybe where there is two fittings use a smaller version with a larger version for the single outlet. +1 from me. I think having the 2 x smaller versions will help keep things in proportion! Not sure if you have seen what we have over our dining table - its a long black oblong light with 5 globes - in our rumpus next door to the dining which is open and can be seen from the dining - we will have the same texture/fabric but in the big round one... the rumpus is quite large and hoping that the round one will look in proportion. Hope this helps - cant wait to see what you choose!! Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Hi, I am planning to select San Selmo reclaimed original for the fascade of my build.
