Short term lurker (last few weeks), 1st time poster (apart from a footy website a few years ago, have hardly posted anywhere ever!). Seems like a mostly friendly bunch here though I first found this forum looking for people building with NBG and specifically the Vaucluse. I did come across a couple of mentions here (in the somerfield estate) but no one has started any regular updates or pics of a vaucluse that isn't the display in Cranbourne East (if anyone is building or has built the Vaucluse, I'd love to see it!). Well, we are planning on building the "Vaucluse" from NBG down Gippsland way. We are up to contracts being prepared (I'm sure they're working on them right now...). So I'll be posting here, asking questions of people and keeping you updated as we go along. We're hoping (as everyone does) that things go smoothly without too many delays etc. I'm doing two things today. One is introducing myself here.. Oh yeah, hi I'm Mike!
Nobody's going to comment at all??:th: Maybe I should have asked a question instead.. In a feeble attempt at attracting a comment from someone, I have uploaded my site plan for the house and where it sits on the block (2.5 acres). Also have included a picture of the Vaucluse. We have chosen to go with this same facade as we loved it straight away. Apologies if I have goofed it up, I haven't uploaded photos before. [ img ] [ img ] Cheers
Just had a look at the Vaucluse design and it looks great and has plenty of storage (love the WIP).
I am also building with NGB in Macedon Ranges area. I am building the Blaxland design and have signed the contracts and waiting for the final drawings to be completed.
I paid my deposit in April 2010 and since then the price of my home has gone up $15,000 which is a result of price rises as well as the area I am being in now being classed as Zone 2 instead of Zone 1 when I paid my deposit.
Good luck with your build and I will look forward to following it.
Thanks Dee I, as many other have enjoyed reading your thread, which has to be the stuff of legend on this board now! Can't say I've read it all of course .. 115 pages and counting.. wow. Similar situations for sure, country block, NBG house etc. Thanks again for your comments.. I feel better now
Thanks also Fairy Blue and Michelle! Michelle, we are zone 2 which cost another 5K. I assume they didn't make you pay the zone 2 price after signing. If not, I think we've both been quite fortunate indeed. BTW, I love the Macedon Ranges area, great spot..
Hi Dee, We haven't done selections yet but got plenty of samples at colourworld while we did the quotation. Colours we are tossing about are front render something similar to display, maybe grey front piers. C/Bond roof- tossing up monument, woodland grey. Narrowed walls down to about 10 shades (That's a hard one!) but probably something like Calcium or similar. Looks like we've locked in close to white (I have a number only!) for the tiles. Looking at designer white (glossy)for bottom cupboards and maybe darker (probably slate grey or similar) for overhead cupboards with Alpine White bench top (quantum quartz). Bathrooms, really not sure yet but we are leaning towards slate grey cabintery with the Alpine White tops again. We can't figure out showers quite yet! A fairly conservative scheme so far but it's never much truer than when building that everyone's taste's can be WAAAY different. We are lucky though that my wife and I have similar tastes which I'm sure makes things a bit easier. I'll post some of the colours when I get sec (not at home, maybe tommorrow).

We are having the Alpine White benchtops, with Designer white cupboards in the Kitchen. Bathroom & ensuite are also having the Alpine White benchtops but with woodgrain vanities..
Thanks brb! Dee, We will probably have the same bottom cupboards and bench tops! I think the two whites will look awesome together! Can't wait to see your kitchen (and neither can you I'm sure!!)
