I got given some basically brand new, commercial quality carpet which was enough to do 2 of the bedrooms. The third i just polished the boards at the same time as polishing the rest of the house, as it was the cheapest option. I always thought would carpet it later. However, 14 years on I have not, and doubt I will. I like the timber floor. I dont find it colder than the other rooms, but I hate a warm bedroom anyway.(We sleep with the window open right through winter and we're in Melbourne ) It is easy to clean and I love the look. We also have animals in the house, so no fleas can live on timber flooring, easy to pick up hairs etc. We are doing another bedroom now and will probably put a timber floor Re: Wood floors for the bedrooms 20Sep 02, 2010 3:43 pm We are renovating our house and I'm making sure there is not an attached piece of carpet in sight! We do however live on the north coast of NSW so our winters are at the coldest about 15 degree during the day and very short timeframe. I dont like tiles (harsh under foot), although I am heavy footed!, cold and unforgiving. We used to live in the snowy mountains so I had carpet in bedrooms, family (mistake) and lounge, rest was floorboards. Everyone commented on how lovely they were (even when it was 1 degree outside! As for the carpet, I went the most expensive carpet I could find due to wearability and keeping that lovely "new" look. After 4 years though, I think it didnt look much better than cheap carpet in the traffic areas. I must say I am a fixed carpet disliker. I also have a husband and daughter who have asthma and its recommended that they dont have carpet. I find carpet is dirty, and smelly (especially with small kids) and unless your prepared to have professionally cleaned every 2 months and vac every day - its a no brainer for me - give me floorboards. Note I did say "fixed carpet". I love rugs and will be having a rug in each bedroom for the kids to sit on and play. Hi, Have fun, remember bedrooms should feel relaxing and inviting, the last space you see before sleep and the first you see when you wake up. Make sure it makes you… 6 16390 We are tossing up between a Jarrahdale radiant wood fire (the Pioneer) and a convection wood fire (Innovator or Countryman) but cannot decide on which type of wood fire is… 0 5427 yeah i couldnt picture it issue either, but i could clearly picture what they were doing wrong haha 2 5430 |
