You need to buy a brand name floor, or buy a "house" brand from a brandname retailer - if they were good brands, a major retailer would sell them. Choice, Court, Call, Solomons, Harvey Norman, plus selected independant retailers only. Be warned about auctions. You get what you pay for with flooring. 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer.
