I believe that it will look like traditional parquet flooring pattern. I used to sell this for a living and the one thing i can tell you is that your floor will take the focus from most of the things around it. If this is the purpose then i think it will look fantastic. The pattern abserlutley demands attention and draws focus be careful if this is not what you want. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=37134 THE THREAD https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35962 THE BLOG! http://pedrosinspiredbeauty.blogspot.com/ BRICKS BRICKS ARE FINISHED... If they're a patterned tile I wouldn't recommend laying them in a basket-weave fashion over a large area - it could look very 'busy'. Re: Tile laying options 300x600 4Jun 08, 2010 9:59 am Hi, Depending on the tile, this could cause a problem when laying them. The length of a tile is 600, opposite 2 x 300 + one grout joint = 602 or whatever. If you don't trim tiles, the only way around that is to have grout joints which vary in width. It won't be much, a millimetre or so, but it could be obvious. Cheers Re: Tile laying options 300x600 5Jun 08, 2010 11:09 am I think GeoffW1 makes a good point ^ have you talked it over with your tile layer? I would also like to see pics of the actual tile. if it is a beautiful tile in itself then it will look gorgeous no matter which way its laid. a brick pattern could look good too, perhaps without being as attention-demanding as the parquet style. Re: Tile laying options 300x600 6Jun 08, 2010 2:45 pm Thanks for the responses. GeoffW1 - that is a really good point - something that hasn’t even crossed my mind - and no, I haven’t spoken to our tiler yet. The tile itself is beautiful and we saw it laid this way in a display home which looks amazing however feel that it will be too much and possibly something i will get over. I am planning on laying the tiles throughout the hallway and into a large open space at the rear of home. The majority of the hallway is 1.2m wide (except the entry which is about 2m wide. The open living/kitchen/dining space to the rear of the home is large approx 8x8m + 6x6m for the dining area.
