I've heard that this is bad Feng shui. It supposedly affects your finances. Can anyone clarify if this is correct? From that basic information, as it has next to zero effect on the flows of Chi around your house, there is no reason for this to have any affect on your finances. This is where Feng Shui gets a bad name, where people know enough to be dangerous but not enough to be useful. Yes the bath room represents removal of waste, and the kitchen represents wealth and prosperity. But that doesn't mean putting the two back to back with a wall between them that you will remove your prosperity. The wall separates the flows of Chi from either room, and unless there is a door between them, will negate any affect of one on the other. I would be more worried about if a toilet is opposite the front door or at the centre of the house. Re: Kitchen and bathroom share a common wall.
