I'd try vinegar and bicarb. Make a paste by mixing the two. Spread the paste on an old rag and apply to the range before washing off. These two can be used to clean just about anything and are good at cutting through grease. People make one happy, not houses? I do not think so. Houses are more to be trusted than people.
