Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 12, 2009 8:02 pm Hi all, My render colour went on. I didn't expect it and so didn't have a sample with me. But does this look like Self-Destruct to you? It is very yellow. It almost looks like the Sandbank render (colorbond color) that my neighbour has. Whatever it is, it's going. It looks deplorable. I hate it. Stupid flucking estate covenants. The bottom part in the sun is the colour. It's just so yellow.... it hurt my eyes. I don't think I can get up there for a few days to check. Oh I really hate it. It does look too yellowy, especially against the bricks you have. IMO, the colours clash. Having said that though, I cant really suggest a replacement colour.... What render colour has it got to be, following the covenants?? Re: Does this look like Self-Destruct to you? 11Nov 13, 2009 6:59 am I have a sample pot of self destruct here and it does look like a very light creamy colour...possibly would throw yellowish outside. Maybe you could go for a darker colour if allowed?? Re: Does this look like Self-Destruct to you? 14Nov 13, 2009 11:55 am It does look quite light against your bricks and a darker colour would be better. Do you have a sample of self destruct that you could post here? I have no idea what it's meant to look like. Can you paint over it after handover maybe? Re: Does this look like Self-Destruct to you? 15Nov 13, 2009 12:24 pm I'm not sure if this helps but I have two photos here from when I had looked into using the colour ''self destrust" it's two coats of interior though painted onto canvas. Maybe the colour is incorrect like you thought or showing differently in your light? Re: Does this look like Self-Destruct to you? 16Nov 13, 2009 12:50 pm Hey Joles, We did our colour selection last tuesday and chose the dulux self destruct render, as it turns out we didn't take a photo of it . That said when we were comparing it against our pressed terracotta austral bricks it did appear to have a more of a yellow tinge to it than when we had it up against the dark grey of our roof tiles. From memory and based on the monitor i'm viewing it on, it may be a little more yellow than what i recall from our colors appointment, but I would have thought your roof tile colour may also be effecting it in the overall scheme vs the sample render squares. Also just something to consider, are you not happy with it based on color from the photo or from in person? Just to be clear as the color reproduced can vary quite significantly between computer monitors unless they've been specifically calibrated and even this its not always dead on. My g/f lives nearby currently and we've been in there before and your color scheme looks like it matches their covenants. That was completely unnecessary. But good to see you back... ish. Belial, yeah it is Hidden Valley. They formally knocked back one render colour and I was informally told some other choices wouldn't get through. I ended up picking the Self Destruct out of desperation, just because I knew it would get through. I managed to get up there today and I think it is correct. I absolutely hate it. But I am even angrier that there is soon-to-be-completed house in my section with it's entire front rendered in a colour similar to what I was told wouldn't pass. This is what I'll be changing to.... Dulux Barnfloor, the darker one in these pics. They told me it wouldn't pass, but fluck them. http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u353/joles_photo/2009-09-10_11-36-43_100920091211.jpg http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u353/joles_photo/2009-09-10_11-39-20_100920091213.jpg http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u353/joles_photo/2009-09-10_11-37-18_100920091212.jpg I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
