Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 20, 2009 5:04 pm Hi all,
I am new to this site - it was recommended to me by a friend. My husband and I are building a new house in Perth with RedInk homes. We purchased the land in February, got titles in July and just did prestart this week. It has been a long wait for us so we are anxious for work to begin happening. I am looking forward to reading about everybodys different experiences on here! Re: Building House in Perth 2Aug 20, 2009 5:08 pm Hi Jess Welcome to the forum!! Where abouts are you building? I'm south too, with Jpeg and Shan in Bertram. I'd love to see some more people from my building company in my suburb. There are about 5 of us in my estate according to my builder. I hope they put up signs at their houses so I can go and check them out and say hi! (and then recommend the forums to them!) There's a Blueprint home going up down the road from me, though it's not going upwards yet, still only footings... unless you've done a driveby recently Jpeg?? My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Building House in Perth 10Aug 20, 2009 10:57 pm Welcome Jess Im building with Redink too, just waiting on getting my contract after paying my deposit in June. Im building the Benchmark which I believe is very similar to the Evolution 3000, keep us updated on your progress. How did your prestart go? Re: Building House in Perth 11Aug 21, 2009 12:51 am Hi to Jess and everyone else, I'm a southie too, just got our keys for the house we have built in Meve estate Beeliar. This is a fantastic website, just discovered it two months back and wished i had known about it sooner! Jess, harrisdale is beautiful! We went to one of the estates there last year and if not for my husband needing to catch the train to perth,we would have bought a land there as the land sizes were bigger and cheaper than those in beeliar Hope you had fun at prestart! Building in Beeliar, moving in on 28th August One of those unlucky few who missed FHOG 21k grant by less than 24hrs...grrrrhhhh Re: Building House in Perth 12Aug 21, 2009 11:44 am Thanks to all of you for the lovely welcome - so great to talk to such nice people who are going through the same thing you are! I will attach a copy of our house plans asap - i always like to keep it up on my fridge as a reminder that I will eventually have a house after all this waiting hehe! Nice to hear some people building with RedInk too. We have found them good so far - fantastic customer service, they even sent us a pot plant for our new house! Things have been quite slow on there end though - but they said its because they have so many clients! Prestart went very well - took just over 3 hours. We made quite a few changes prior so we just did alot of upgrading things such as doorhandles, toilets, exhaust fans, electrical, cupboards etc etc! Beeliario - huge congratulations to you on your house - how exciting! Harrisdale is lovely, we got a good sized block for a very decent price, with fencing, landscaping and front reticulation included. My husband and I catch the train to Perth also which just means we have to drive to the nearest station - which is a bit of a hassle but hopefully worth it Re: Building House in Perth 14Aug 21, 2009 12:32 pm not sure abou that but you could upload it on www.photobucket.com Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: Building House in Perth 15Aug 21, 2009 12:41 pm Welcome Jess! Re: Building House in Perth 17Aug 21, 2009 12:51 pm Hi McBecks (Neighbour!) We have a friend building in Vertu also - ohh i just love that estate! He is in the same boat as you with titles - very frustrating. Hoping for good news for you soon I will defintely post my colours here soon. I have been told there is a place you can go where you can enter your colours into a computer and it shows you what your house will look like - i would love to get a pic of that! Re: Building House in Perth 18Aug 21, 2009 1:40 pm Jess, your house is huge!!! Anyway, something i noticed through my own experience is that the builders these days seem to make the shower space really small (800mmX800mm) . I haven't looked at your measurements yet but please do check on it. Our shower space was of that measurement and because we didn't realise how small it is, we did not extend the shower and it turned out really cramped!! So check your shower and extend it if it is 800 by 800mm..def worth the extra money!
