Hi everyone, we have settled on the purchase of our land. Hoping to build a two storey home to take in the views of Studley Park Golf Course in Elderslie - near Camden NSW. Northerly aspect 14 metre frontage 32 metres long = a very managable 450m2 :D Thought we'd share a few pics.

Congratulations - looks very picturesque and peaceful.

One thing - on the first photo the house on the left looks really wonky - is that an optical illusion or is it really that tilted?

No just a wonky camera man - or a bad fencer?

It's definitely weird looking - as both fences seem level and the house on the right is almost level but the one on the left is ... well not even close to being level.

nice block JohnnyD! I have to totally agree with purpleninja though..... i think one of those houses is going to fall over. I think it is the one on the left. but if i tilt my computer it could be the one on the right. Very VERY odd. I hope they manage to build yours straight. Congratulations! :) buzz

We have chosen Cavalier Homes Macarthur as our builder as they had the most suitable plans for our particular block with it's views over the golf course and we like to be dealing directly with the guys that are actually building the house. Prices for upgrades and extras are very reasonable compared to other builders. We are now in the process of arranging a tender and final drawings.
Preliminary drawings attached. We have also started a blog.

Hi John and Loretta,

Camden Acres is lovely! We looked at some blocks there but at this stage we are going with Camden Hillside. I am interested in Cavalier Homes though and i was wondering how you are finding them? Any feedback.

Thanks

Kim.

Hi Kim,
Glad to meet our first neighbours. We aren't too sure where Camden Hillside is? Is it near Elderslie High? Cavalier guys have been great so far. We like dealing with the actual builders Craig and Wayne. They don't have separate sales and building people. The prices for upgrades and extras have been very reasonable compared to the mark ups of most other builders. They showed us through a recently completed build of theirs and we were very impressed with the quality of the finished product. They also gave us several references which we followed up and all spoke very highly of Cavalier. Hope we've helped. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
Cheers
John and Loretta

Hi guys, Camden Hillside is behind Elderslie High School, it will lead off Kanangra Cres.
So have Cavalier been okay time wise?

Nice!
We'll have a look next time we are down there.
As for Cavalier time wise - it's too early for us to tell. It's a question we did put to all the previous customers that we spoke to and there were no complaints at all. So far they've been very responsive with e-mails.

Hi Loretta and John! Went for a squiz at your land today! Looks great, lovely view of the golfcourse, we were there at just before sundown - you'll be loving watching those sunsets from your balcony with a glass (or 3) of vino collapso!

We have progress!! :z: After waiting for final Ok from the bank, we have now signed the building contract and plans have been submitted to council this week.

These are the updated plans with just a few minor changes ie: we now have a larger island bench in the kitchen, changed under bench oven to wall oven and microwave space and coffered ceilings in the media room.

So now we play the waiting game again for council approval. ::praying::

Btw - I've also bought a really nice cement mixer

Hurrah!

Good choice on the bigger island bench!
Good choice on the wall-oven!
John . . . beautiful cement mixer! I wouldn't want to use it in case it got dirty.

The race is on. . . you'll probably have your council approval in before we get the loan documents.

I think I'm going to start my own bank. . . I think I'd do a lot better job!

Yes Jo we are happy with the changes we have made... though we could have made more but it all costs extra $$$.
We do have neighbour notification - it ends on 1.9.09 so I think you will still be ahead of us.
Looking at all the fee costs for the DA I think I want to own a council!!...they must be raking in the money!!
Can I have an application form to join your bank ha ha.... yes I think you would do a better job.

Are you planning a visit to the nursery this weekend?... looks like the weather is going to be good for it.
Loretta
