I would imagine in your case they could do the finish from the laneway side. But this is something best discussed with your builder.

Thanks for the reply strannik, doing OB so I am the builder. So are you saying they can do overhand through the timber wall and then just finish it off from lane way side after that?
With the width of the one and the requirement to leave approx 1500mm it only leaves about 100-150mm to work without lane closure

is the lane a regular throughfare? if not, just wing it. Chances are no one will know while your ethere for a day or two. Otherwise yeah, overhand and then they will periodically go to the lane side to roll the joins befor ethe mortar fully sets. Not a huge deal.

Have you looked into the costs of lane closure? Might be cheapenough that its a no brainer, rather than fretting over it.

in that case - ask your brickies

cause whatever we say on this forum may be not what they will agree to do.

i would've thought if they don't need to put bricks on the laneway, as well as any other tools and materials, all they will need to do after laying them overhand is walk around and finish it off. which shouldn't take much space or time.

Have you looked into the costs of lane closure? Might be cheapenough that it’s no brainer, rather than fretting over it.

It’s not overly expensive, will probably be about $250 for the day and then $60 every extra day. It’s the overall process that’s just a bit of a pain and time consuming (application to council, traffic plan, approvals, hand out flyer to neighbours).

Brickies have said they can, building surveyor says they won’t be able to 😂

I may just have to save myself all the to and fro and just close it for the day 🤷🏼‍♂️

Unfortunately Not without paying for their time and basically booking in the brickies
