Definitely not real stone. We've tried several cleaners, including the Caeserstone branded products and Hillmark Stone Kleen from Bunnings. Both seem to strip off the surface gloss and leave a satin finish. Not sure if the benchtops have been treated with some wax product or whether the shine is just a patina of grime/grease. Anyone dealt with this issue? got some pictures? Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Trust me, its in my sig. Re: Advice for cleaning caesarstone (?) bench 6Oct 17, 2022 3:29 pm what are you trying to clean off it? in my experience usually wet cloth is sufficient in most cases, you can put some dish washing liquid on it if you need more cleaning power. and the heat related stains probably need sanding and polishing rather than cleaning (i prefer to just ignore them). Re: Advice for cleaning caesarstone (?) bench 7Oct 17, 2022 3:33 pm What should I avoid using on engineered stone surfaces? Some chemicals and solvents can cause damage to quartz-rich surfaces such as Essastone. We suggest that you avoid: - Concentrated bleach (like undiluted Domestos) - Oil-based soaps - Furniture or oven cleaners - Drain cleaners and other chemicals with high alkaline pH levels - Paint remover or paint/stain strippers - For Gloss surfaces ”“ we suggest avoiding cream-style cleansers entirely, as many contain abrasives that can damage polished surfaces https://www.laminex.com.au/article/how- ... ered-stone Re: Advice for cleaning caesarstone (?) bench 8Oct 17, 2022 8:15 pm Thanks for all the replies. I'll try taking some pictures in daylight tomorrow - it's hard to see at night. Was trying to clean off some greasy marks in one area and some minor water spots (i.e. dried minerals from tap water) in another. Only used a quality microfibre cloth - on one tried Caeserstone cleaner and the other Stone Kleen - neither is a cream style cleaner. Re: Advice for cleaning caesarstone (?) bench 9Nov 16, 2022 3:31 pm Just an update. We also had a 1cm chip out of the edge of a benchtop and contacted Peter Fikus from In Stone Design (his contact details are on the caeserstone website) to fix it and advise on the cleaning issue. Peter came out and confirmed that the shiny areas were actually a patina of wax/grease/grime that could be removed by use of caeserstone's creme cleanser and cleaned a section. Wife now happy that the satin finish is the way it's meant to look and we cleaned the rest of the benchtops to a consistent satin appearance. Peter also spent a couple of hours fixing the chip and we are very pleased with the result - quite difficult to pick where the repair is. His price was reasonable for the time involved. No, I even have sections of narrowness where the tiles won't slide up any further. When I manage some spare time, I might play around with the first DIY part of my… 7 5294 Yep, efflorescence as mentioned above. You could look to clean it with a "acid" based cleaner and then seal with a penetrating sealer. This may not stop it entirely but… 3 6701 Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this. PS was actually 2008 I built the… 2 12436 |
