Browse Forums Move Management Re: How Best Get A Fridge Up Onto a 6x4 Trailer? 2Feb 28, 2022 8:16 am Depending on how big the fridge is and how strong you are theres a few options. What I tend to do is strap the fridge to a sack truck, tilt it on an angle and then drag the sacktruck up the rear of the trailer. Is more helpful with someone lifting from the bottom if you aren't as strong. Gotta make sure all the doors are secure if you do it that way, don't want it flapping open halfway causing it to tip. Re: How Best Get A Fridge Up Onto a 6x4 Trailer? 3Feb 28, 2022 11:25 am Yep, I get it: move on a sack truck. But 'drag up the rear of the trailer' ? What, up some ramps or something? I have no ramp. That's the point. I turn around and push the sack truck and fridge up close to the rear of the trailer and then tilt back and push to get one edge of the fridge up there on the trailer bed. Then push the thing up being careful that little bit we've got on doesn't slip off. As soon as it's horizontal I can push it further on until its safe. Find it handy to have a sheet of cardboard or similar on the bed to get it onto - it'll slip along the bed easier then. So I've got all that under control. But sometimes that won't work for one reason or another. Fridge not wide enough perhaps to reach up to the bed when I tilt it. Fridge too bloody top heavy for me to push up onto the bed. I don't know. Just looking for a better way Re: How Best Get A Fridge Up Onto a 6x4 Trailer? 4Feb 28, 2022 1:58 pm abrogard Yep, I get it: move on a sack truck. Provided the sack truck is flat it will let you pull it up fairly easily. 1. strap fridge to sack truck. 2. position sack truck at the back of the trailer with the back of the sack truck resting against the trailer. 3. get in the trailer 4. tilt the sack truck backwards at a comfortable angle so it wont tip forward 5. start walking backwards in the trailer pulling the sack truck with you 6. once the sack truck wheels are on the trailer tilt it forward. 7. you're on the trailer. FYI that method can scrape some paint off the back of the sack truck against the trailer if you care what it looks like. I use this method for most heavy things, fridges, washing machines, cupboards etc. Re: How Best Get A Fridge Up Onto a 6x4 Trailer? 5Feb 28, 2022 2:15 pm Well I'll be damned. I get what you mean. Great idea. As long - I'm thinking - as you can crouch down under the fridge and reach the handles of the truck? And if I've got a helper with me then extra easy I suppose as they just push the bottom of the fridge. If I put a bit of cardboard or the 'skid' cloths I use for skidding heavy furniture around over the edge of the trailer it might not even scrape too much off the truck, either. Not that I'd mind much but I'd love to avoid the nasty sound of metal on metal scraping. thanks for that, right on. ! I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago.
