Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Oct 03, 2018 9:21 pm Hi, I am planning to have complete home theatre setup for new 2 storey house that I am going to build. Can someone please advise what pre-wiring connections that I am supposed to ask during colour appointment? I have colour appointment next Monday so I have to prepare myself accordingly. Also, my HT dimensions are L 4 * W 3.38. Will it good if I put 100 inch projector screen? Pls need experts inputs. Thanks Suresh Re: Home Theater Installation 2Oct 05, 2018 12:42 am Sureshd Hi, I am planning to have complete home theatre setup for new 2 storey house that I am going to build. Thanks Suresh for my home theatre, organised a raised platform, 7.1.2 surround sound to suit Dolby Atmos (could consider 9.1.2 as well), Data points, Conduits for projector cable + power point, bulkheads, up to 120" projector screen for a 2930x1500 space Re: Home Theater Installation 3Oct 05, 2018 12:30 pm
for my home theatre, organised a raised platform, 7.1.2 surround sound to suit Dolby Atmos (could consider 9.1.2 as well), Data points, Conduits for projector cable + power point, bulkheads, up to 120" projector screen for a 2930x1500 space
I hope those dimensions of 2930 x 1500 space are incorrect? I’ll assume they are the width and height of the screen wall. Even then a 120” screen spans over 2.5m width and including the frame the height would exceed 1.6m and would require a minimum throw ratio of over 3m. You’d be better to decide screen size after installation anyway and try different sizes onto the wall and then make a decision. Tell him Daniel sent you and he’ll look after you ! agree, Im going through lifestyle as well Re: Home Theater Installation 10Oct 15, 2018 11:30 pm Too many variables, what outlets, conduits and provisions you require depends on what you want out of your home theatre system, which then decides which equipment needs to run, which in the end you will then plan on provisions, wall points and conduits to run cables to connect all equipment. Will you have wall mounted TV's ? - if Yes what devices will connect to each TV Will you have a projector in any room. Will you have surround sound, or any wall mounted speakers. Very important with a 2 story house as certain cabling can be difficult or not possible to be done once house is complete. Will you want any of the above to be installed at a later date, or far in future and want to plan for it? You might want to get a consultation from the smart wiring company that your builder uses if possible, or hopefully if they are helpful enough can guide you through it. It's size is according to your space. Re: Home Theater Installation 12Mar 29, 2019 12:00 am First if you really want to enlighten them take them to hear some live unamplified music...Then demo a Bose system, followed by a decent surround system and finally a really good 2 channel system... If you just want to grab them something decent without any fuss a Subwoofer/satellite 5.1(4 satellite speakers, center speaker and powered subwoofer)speaker system from Paradigm Acoustics,Definitive Technology or Atlantic Technology, a good surround receiver from Marantz or Yamaha & a DVD player from Oppo or Yamaha wired up with basic Audioquest wiring will probably blow them away...Spend some time setting everything up along with some light acoustic treatments if you get any echo in the room(walk around clapping hands and you’ll hear it)..A Set Up/Video Calibration DVD is cheap and will allow you to get the best out of the system... . Re: Home Theater Installation 13Mar 29, 2019 3:49 am I have noticed that trend is that DVD players are dying and everything is moving towards on-demand streaming content. Ideally you would need high speed internet connection near your theatre. You can also test out if surround sound bar will be a better option to multiple speakers e.g.: https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-YSP-5600- ... I could probably rip the old… 0 5422 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors.
