Did they agree to fix the rips in the wall wrap? Yeah they have but only when I escalated to the Construction Manager. He's a very reasonable chap and gets stuff resolved fast. But, having reviewed matters recently, it seems as though that patch up work hasn't progressed despite them having a contractor attend to wrap the first floor. This has now revealed even more issues like wrap not being applied tightly ( against Aust Standard and code) and overlaps not being taped correctly in places where it is <150mm. The latest progress on my house is that the second floor is installed and the eave linings and top half of the downpipes have been fitted. They were supposed to render but all this wet weather has stopped them for attending site. Lucky I met them on site because it turns out there was no data point provisioned from the nbn box to under the stairs where I will put the router. So had to call Vaccaro and hand over the credit card plus pay for a couple of power points and light points and noggins to be installed over the dining table and stair void for future lighting solutions. Would have been pretty screwed (excuse the pun) with out the pre data wiring for nbn. Also was able to discuss positioning of light switch heights too. In NSW, the standard height is 1400mm but unless you specify this, the switches will be put at 1050mm which i'm told is the VIC standard. Finally was able to discuss the Panasonic intercom that I bought and asked if they could quote me for how much to install as well as make sure that the wiring they will do is the right type since some systems use cat 6 and others use RJ45. Cat 6 is the standard wiring I understand. Was also an opportunity to discuss whether i have the right amperage wired for some of the kitchen appliances. For example, the miele speed ovens which are an oven, microwave and grill in one, need a 15 amp switch so unless you ask for it, it's hard to get it done afterward as a standard point is only 10 amps (or so i'm told). I didn't even notice that note in our electrical plans Metricon Liberty 45, Ryde NSW viewtopic.php?t=82846 Glad you've found it helpful Q! To be honest, I had to come home today and measure what we have in our flat just to double check and sure enough, it is 1400mm to the centre of the plate. One of the sparkles did say today that the advantage of 1050mm is kids can reach it, but I find my 2.5 yr old can reach the switch at 1400mm. One other thing I just noticed, for some reason, they've put the light switch for one of the bedrooms behind a door. Hopefully I can get that changed tomorrow as that would really be annoying. My Journey H1 thread | viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77665 Hi Nev, I'm sure it'll be fine. After a day or two you won't even notice I think. I'm real happy I made sure to meet the sparkies on site. I cringe thinking that i nearly didn't have the right pre wiring set up for the nbn which is already at my block. Hope your walk through goes ok today! If it's with NS, it'd be interesting to hear where he's off to next? I was told that the other SM named N who also works for M has left to go to Masterton, so they're 2 short in our area. I was really worried about the light switch being behind the door of Bedroom 2 (see below pic) but when I went to site today, clearly someone had some common sense and put it on the other side! Thankyou Vaccaro! In some areas the drilling was a little trigger happy as holes drilled in noggins made some look like a swiss cheese. I'm also a bit concerned that the aircon installers have put too few outlets in. Contract says up to 15 outlets will be installed but we only have maybe 10 in the house. I'm a bit puzzled. How do I confirm what the correct number should be? Didnt you get an electrical plan showing all the heating/cooling outlets? If not, maybe ask them to send you the plan. Re: North Shore Newhaven (Sydney) 92Mar 19, 2017 6:27 am In Melbourne in actually tells you and has different symbols for power points at different heights which it specifies. They don't have that in nsw? Re: North Shore Newhaven (Sydney) 93Mar 19, 2017 2:45 pm vuster Hi nom, good to see some progress. Didnt you get an electrical plan showing all the heating/cooling outlets? If not, maybe ask them to send you the plan. They don't give us a plan like that in NSW AFAIK. In the contract it states placement of outlets at the disgression of their air con contractor. The pic above shows the power points and the light switches, and fans and light locations etc. It doesn't show where the aircon outlets go though. Only the aircon return.
