Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Metricon 4531Feb 07, 2017 10:17 pm Renman Spotme Have you though of hiring a surveyor or carpenter or even a friend who is experienced in home building (rules changed end of last year that allow a non certified surveyor to inspect work) to check in the progress of your house. We had issues with our admin process and escalated with M and we were given an experienced CSC. Now each items/issues/variations is added to a running spreadsheet where it is tracked/commented/solution is updated on a regular bases. I found that this has worked well as issues are not lost in the hundreds of emails that goes back and forth. No, I didn't know this was an option. Will talk to hubby and see if we can hire one. Hah, good you managed to get them have a more structured approach to solving the issues!!! You are very hands on, and you should be! Afterall, it's such a massive investment. I managed Projects for work. So might as well incorporate it to M since they weren't going to make sure they have your best interest as heart. PM me if you if need any help. [/quote] True Renman! It's a shame builders or SS don't feel accountable for the work.. Would love to hear more about how I can better manage my build! Will pm you Re: Building with Metricon 4532Feb 07, 2017 10:51 pm Spotme Renman Spotme Have you though of hiring a surveyor or carpenter or even a friend who is experienced in home building (rules changed end of last year that allow a non certified surveyor to inspect work) to check in the progress of your house. Is that reasonable or cheaper to do after hand over? What has everyone else done for window coverings and approx how much? We've gone with M for blinds and sheers too. Company is LoveLight. Ours has come in at about $8.5k. That includes single blockout roller and ceiling mounted sheers to living, dining and master. 2 x double rollers on back bedrooms and singles everywhere else. The only thing they couldn't do was our ensuite and main bath as they have tile reveals and M won't guarantee the tiles not being cracked on installation. So we went with privacy film up to 1700 and clear glaze above to let some natural light in. I found the quote pretty reasonable and it means we don't have to worry about it after handover....the list for post handover is already too long! Lol. This means you'll have to change all interior doors just because of that? Can you call Hume and confirm? What has everyone else done for window coverings and approx how much? We had the blinds promo and the cost did add up to $5k just for blinds. If the promo wasn't included, we would've had them done elsewhere, that's wayyy too much. Metro 32 KDRB Bayside Melbourne viewtopic.php?f=31&t=84012 Hi JLH Re the privacy film, that someth you are doing post H/O or is M doing that? I requested translucent glass, but because of high Bal rating, we need thicker glass and M cooked up some story as to translucent glaze not being available in 5mm thick glass from their supplier. So we are getting clear glaze in bathrooms!! Seriously. So I need to do someth post H/O now.. Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
