Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 901Jan 06, 2017 7:51 am Lol Charli. It's not a given yet. It may not actually deliver on our (extremely) high expectations. However we are completely over taking our 18month old xtrail back for warranty stuff. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 902Jan 06, 2017 8:32 am Eeek!!! Electrician just text to ask if we would like a walk through! Yay!! Yay! you know the drill - Make sure the doors swing the right way (powerpoints not behind the door) - Add some double powerpoints above ceiling - height and placement of powerpoints (furniture placement) - powerpoints in hallway for vacuum cleaners Good luck... Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 904Jan 06, 2017 8:42 am Thanks Reg!! When you say power points in the ceiling.... what would that be for? Lol - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 905Jan 06, 2017 8:42 am Eeek!!! Woohoo!! Have fun!! Hah we did this. Added PowerPoint to ceiling Lol looked really stupid on our plan but was necessary for our A/C But I see it could be useful for future LED lighting, blinds if you want to go grand Re: Our first build: 907Jan 06, 2017 8:50 am needsausername Thanks Reg!! When you say power points in the ceiling.... what would that be for? Lol I put one above my theatre room ceiling to power the ceiling mounted projector and also put one above the alfresco... I am thinking I should have put one above the living room... This is more for future proofing but with all these gadgets in the market, powerpoints above ceiling will become a standard requirement.... We can't prewire for stuff we don't know but a few powerpoints above ceiling will come handy just like we put additional powerpoints around the home... We didn't think of PowerPoints for motorised blinds. Low not high lol hope it still works Re: Our first build: 909Jan 06, 2017 9:00 am Emmz70 That's excellent you thought of everything Reg. We didn't think of PowerPoints for motorised blinds. Low not high lol hope it still works Thanks Emmz.... lucky I pre-wired for motorised blinds... I think you can put a junction box and connect all the wires from windows and run one input from the mains power.... we don't need powerpoints to power individual blinds... (hope it make sense) Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 910Jan 09, 2017 11:25 am Ahhh yep yep that does make sense Reg. So site meeting done. And I may or may not have spent an extra $2400..... lol An extra circuit for the house. USB power points in the main bedroom, pantry and WIL (which will be our 'charging stations'). Some floodlights to light up the yard, 2 and 3 way switches, dimmers, under top cupboard lighting in the kitchen (yay!) downlights to hall and main living area. Pendants over island. Install our pendant over dining table after we move in and get our dining table placement sorted. Extra power points in laundry and outside. 2 more downlights in the eaves at the front of the house. Phew. I think that's it. Oh and other news, we loved the cx9 but there was a few niggly things that annoyed us so while it's not perfect, I said I'd rather not get it. On the flip side however, our 18mth old x trail has to go back in for warranty AGAIN with electrical gremlins. Gawd. So I'm off to have lunch and start de-cluttering and PACKING!!! Haha far too excited to get out of this place. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 911Jan 09, 2017 1:11 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's official! Eave materials delivered. Should be going on next week hopefully. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 915Jan 12, 2017 11:53 am Latest.... timber cavity's for the sliding doors are onsite, electrical rough ins completed, eave and cladding materials onsite. The trade that will be installing these are working on a house across the road and once they are finished they will be coming over to our place. So hopefully by wednesday next week we should be firing along and be water tight. WOO HOO! Ok so whats next, what would be happening after we get the eaves and cladding done. I was thinking insulation and gyprock but I'm not sure if I'm missing anything?? - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 916Jan 12, 2017 12:40 pm needsausername Latest.... timber cavity's for the sliding doors are onsite, electrical rough ins completed, eave and cladding materials onsite.
