2D drawing plans to 3D model

Hi,

Is there a computer program that would create a 3d model based on the information from a 2D drawings? I don't expect miracles so I'm happy to type the data manually.

Found other topics on this subject. I initially searched using 3d phrase but because it has only 2 letters I got no results.

Hi have a look at sweethome 3d you can import your floor plan into it and sort of trace over the top of it with walls etc.
I was told that one and sketchup, free downloads both of them. I am terrible at it I must admit, but it gives you a look at the house. If you are good it can do great 3d.

Sweethome is very easy to use. I have used it extensively to mock up my house.

for example this is how I did my kitchen.

best program is chief architect. Used it for my house and have rendered pictures of the whole house. Also has a function to take pictures from any angle within the build. Check out my build with the pictures uploaded.

Any full blown CAD program will do that Aussie141414. I think the OP is after a cheap and easy to learn program.

Sweet home can render photos with sunlight shading at any time. It has limitations but it's free and will allow you to get a very good feel.

Wow, dial it back a notch.....

I think cost, ease of use functionality.

While there is no doubt that the programme you mentioned is far superior there is a substantial cost after the 30 day trial period.

Most people on these forums asking about a CAD program are only after something that they can draw their floorplans and elevations with and do a few renders for their house, that's all. For that they want something free like Sketchup or $100 or so.
To ask them to cough up $2,700 for CA premier may be a tad too rich for a one off nor the associated learning curve.
