Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3906Jun 08, 2016 6:41 am Juannamo Hi all, We've been advised our new home presentation is in 2 weeks time. My partner and I purchased our land feb last year and it's exciting it's all coming to an end and we'll finally have our family home. Braved the mud to yesterday to see the progress (haven't been able to visit the site much since having little miss 2 months ago) I was surprised to see the flooring had been laid. I thought the planks and old be longer but I'm still in love with the colour. We were initially going to get coffee oak but changed our minds and asked for a variation even after everything was signed. It's seems that hbc just need to pour the driveway and install the blinds. Hubbys.. I mean our list of post handover jobs however keep growing. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/noodle_stylez/Mobile%20Uploads/image.jpg On another note, does anyone know/can recommend where I can get sheer curtains made? That is SO exciting! I also had the same reaction to the flooring, thinking the planks would be longer especially since we upgraded our flooring, but I visited a friends house on the weekend who has hardwood timber flooring and hers looked the same, so I guess it's fairly standard. No idea on a curtain supplier. Our blinds are black and HIDEOUS. I'm so annoyed for not fighting harder to get the white one's installed. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3907Jun 08, 2016 7:13 am puglover how is the quality of the blinds? Initially we were going to delete them but in the end decided to keep them. We plan on changing them down the track but at least we have window coverings when we move in rather than the customary bedsheets over windows Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3908Jun 08, 2016 7:20 am How exciting! It's always cool to see someone's progress photos and even better what they're building the same house!! Keep us all updated. puglover did you have a photo of your blinds as me and my partner were going to go with the black. Thanks. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3910Jun 08, 2016 9:43 am Our blinds are great. Same quality as the ones we ordered from Dollar Store curtains to get for our bathrooms and laundry room. Just wished they went over to the wall instead of just outside the window. Black everything out as they should. Just a bit of light creeping through at end due to where they end. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3911Jun 08, 2016 10:27 am Our blinds were initially replaced due being faulty. They had awful pressing marks at the base near the rods and did not go all the way down to the bottom of the window sill. Even though they've been replaced they still have these press marks! Some blinds are worse than others. I'm still considering raising the issue again with the warranties department. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3912Jun 08, 2016 10:45 am tarajbrown have you had your colour selection appointment? I've read somewhere that hbc have hanged their colour schemes. Not sure what the new ones are but would love to see pics of them. When you go in fort our colour apointments make sure you clarify what colour the microwave tower will be as we had an issue with ours which thankfully HBC acknowledged that they had made the mistake and has since rectified it. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3913Jun 08, 2016 10:58 am Just an update for everyone as we've been our house for close to 6 months now. We're so happy and love it. Our house is perfect and we've had no issues. The only thing we would have changed or should have done was have a small window on our front door to let in some natural light. We initially didn't want a door with large windows as neither of us want people looking in. Lol....say of we want to hide when we're home. We will eventually get a new door with a small window most likely frosted. I am signing my PWC in Sunday. I'll take some photos for you! And thank you for the heads up, I'll be sure to remember this as I don't want my microwave tower to be white. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3915Jun 09, 2016 10:09 am so we got the final invoice last night!!! Very exciting. All the items on our Darbecca inspection report have been rectified except one, which might take two weeks... and we're out of our current house next weekend so could mean a few nights in a hotel or (the horror) staying with family. Wish us luck! Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3918Jun 09, 2016 12:08 pm Congrats puglover! Wishing you all the best. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3919Jun 09, 2016 12:10 pm thanks everyone - and I want to say the final inspection report was excellent, I think 24 items most of them very minor. My friend built with Simonds and had HUNDREDS of defects so I'm very pleased. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3920Jun 11, 2016 8:39 pm Hi everyone, new to the forum.
