Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Blueprint Build - Madeley 5Mar 13, 2016 7:26 pm Congratulations on starting to build! You must be looking forward to prestart tomorrow Looks a good plan, you've got plenty of room out the back! Love the big sliding linen cupboard and the placement of bed 2 doubling as a study, have you considered adding a wardrobe in there? We added a double wardrobe to our study so in future it could be marketed as a office/5th bedroom/nursery - but instead of putting in a shelf and rail we put in 4 shelves (like a pantry) so we can use it for storage. Just a thought anyway - looking forward to seeing your choices Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: Blueprint Build - Madeley 6Mar 13, 2016 10:25 pm Congrats on the beginning of such an exciting journey! We were originally looking at blueprint, but steered away by slightly more appropriate plans and prices that worked for us. I'm keen to see how your build progresses, there's always that "what if we went with blueprint" in the back of my head Enjoy pre start, go in with a clear head and take your time making desicions - don't get pressured into anything your unsure about, make sure it feels right for you. Re: Blueprint Build - Madeley 7Mar 14, 2016 7:50 pm Oh wow! I wasn't expecting any responses haha. We had already chosen flooring and tiling prior to today. We are going for the grey, black, white theme. As much as I love the idea, I wasn't brave enough to put in any teak colours in the bathrooms/laundry because I'm a bit of a wimp! With the flooring we went with the Parador Classic 1050 in Oak Lava And the lasting impression range carpet in dusk which I can't really remember what it was like now, but it was a grey colour... I wasn't smart enough/organised enough to take photos of the tile selections either, let's hope they look good when they all come together! We chose the bigger floor tiles (300x300) which cost extra. For the kitchen we chose the della vita midnight sky stone bench, laminex polar white silk finish cupboards, no handles on overhead cupboards, pot drawers and regular cupboards in the kitchen because personally I don't like them! We added the following: plumbing behind fridge mitred tiling throughout internal/external gas point three set pot drawers kitchen with melamine sides drawer beside kitchen sink for bin metallic glass splashback behind oven and sink (surprisingly not as expensive as we had anticipated!) soft close hinges on cupboards kitchen, laundry, b1 and ensuite Increased tile height in the shower to b1 and ensuite Semi-frameless shower screen b1 and ensuite Additional towel rails in b1 and ensuite Added hand towel rail in b1 and ensuite Upgraded to Electrolux hotplate 2 x downlights under overhead cupboard above sink Our pre-start consultant was lovely and not pushy at all. Loved the chick who dealt with the electrical plan too, she was super helpful and advised us of a lot of things that could be done a lot cheaper and easily after handover. You might want them to install a side wall on the shower for your toilet roll holder unless you are ok with installing it on the vanity. Congrats on the build. Plans and colours are great. I still love it. We have oak limed laminate floors with it and it goes perfectly. Re: Blueprint Build - Madeley 16Jun 27, 2016 7:28 pm Today we received an e-mail advising us that earthworks have been scheduled for 22nd June 2016 with the slab expected to be poured within 10 days after that. Our construction loan took longer to be processed than initially anticipated due to CBA having an influx of loan applications and not enough people to process them. Hence the delay in between prestart and earthworks. Although this has been good as it has allowed us to save more money - silver lining! What an exciting time for you I was very lazy with keeping this updated. We got our keys on 16th November! I can't remember the cost of the splashback, but I do remember that we were pleasantly surprised as we were expecting it to be more. Have you been to any display homes that show the midnight sky benchtop? I love it, it's so easy to keep clean - you don't have to dry it after using a damp cloth on it! I will try to upload some photos, or you can have a look at my husbands Instagram as he posted a video (gordonleggat)! That was moving in day so excuse the mess! Anything else, just ask! Not recommended! The image presented is for a sublevel area. The footings are down deep with a load bearing wall supporting the upper floor level.
