Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 84Feb 24, 2016 10:11 pm Thanks JB1, ours are sitting around 400mm off the floor. Hoping to cut the tiles on 45 degree angle but am told by the tiler that he needs a special diamond blade and that workmanship will be extra if I want that finish without the aluminium corner protectors. Same case with the shower niches. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 85Feb 24, 2016 10:14 pm So today I sacked my plasterer - finally. His incompetency and excuses have become unbearable and I have arranged another plasterer to finish off the remaining work, which should only be about 15% of the house. He has taken 6 weeks and at this rate would take him at least 2 more weeks which costs me more money with the delay and paying extra rent for no reason. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 86Feb 24, 2016 11:56 pm Just wondering how you calculate a fair payment when sacking a tradie half way. My tiler could cut the tiles on a 45deg angle if it was the full length of the tile I.E. square or rectangle tile but couldn't make the 45deg angle cut if it had an internal cut I.E. non square or rectangle tile. Therefore I had aluminum angles in my niches. Next time I will insist on not using an aluminum angle for my niches. Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 87Feb 25, 2016 6:56 am JB1 Just wondering how you calculate a fair payment when sacking a tradie half way. In my mind it was whatever % of the job he had done compared to the initial agreed quote minus $1000 per delayed week. In the end we both came to an agreement and will pay him a couple of grand more and call it even. Last thing I want is him having a grudge and causing us grief by thinking he could damage the property. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 88Feb 25, 2016 7:42 am Sorry to hear you've had to sack your plasterer. Glad you came to a mutual agreement with price though. Did you find another one quickly or will there be a wait? Out of all the trades we've had so far our gyprockers have been the most efficient time wise. I'm really still quite in shock how quick it has been done. Helped though that the frame was nice and straight too though. All our niches will be mitre cut. My tiler says that the only reason you need to put aluminium angles around them is because you don't know how to tile LOL. Tiling is the one job with good reason we've never attempted in any renovation or build. You see some shocking tiling round. Love your wall hung vanities BTW if I haven't said so already! Can't wait for those pics of the finished house...crappy news about your plasterer but c'est la vie...onward and upward! Getting so close if we had the $ I would've loved polished concrete with heating...hope the rest all falls into place and you get to start enjoying your beautiful home very soon! Yes I have a friend who had stopped doing plastering before I engaged this one, then rang him to see if he can recommend anyone and he said that he is back to doing plastering again. I will pay for all materials and he will start on Monday hopefully on an hourly rate, hoping it won't take more than a week. gandn All our niches will be mitre cut. You have such similar taste to us! - though yours seems much more complex. I love the ezijambs! and the no skirting - What profile did your plasterer us to achieve this? Thanks Kasra, ours might be complex but your place is going to look amazing kasra nedlands I love the ezijambs! and the no skirting - What profile did your plasterer us to achieve this? Ezyjambs are a kit that you purchase from Ezyjamb but through one of their suppliers. As for the skirting, our first plasterer who I sacked was supposed to get me these p50 shadowlines that creates a 40mm gap from the floor to the bottom of the plaster. Obviously he never purchased them so I am looking at alternatives now. I have found this company http://www.criterionindustries.com.au/p ... rting.html, I am looking at getting 35mm aluminium skirting to place in the gap then cover the remaining gap from the bottom of the plaster with shadowline stopping angles http://www.studcosystems.com.au/images/ ... angles.jpg = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC.
