Very nice pendants too Rache Heya nikki! I dont think you can go wrong with your pendants- very elegant and a gorgeous colour. How did your tile meeting go? Just realized i havent told you what a beautiful kitchen you have! Love your style. Aah thanks guys! Elegant isn't normally a word associated with me so I'll take that Rache and Trees - thanks! Well I didn't post an update yesterday as I was waiting for a couple of things to play out! It is safe to say that this part of our build is turning into a comedy of errors. The tile meeting (of sorts) did go ahead. Only there was only one tile to check and of all the tiles we ordered it was actually "the" en-suite feature tile that turned up!! There were no floor tiles, no standard wall tiles and no bathroom border tile! The excuse from Imported Ceramics this time.....they thought they had delivered them last week, even though they were the ones that said they couldn't deliver until this week!! Our SS was great though and we talked through everything and made sure he knew where each tile had to go. Good job we did really because the version of the plan he had showed the feature tile on the wrong wall! This error harks back to the version of the plans that were drawn up after pre-start! The drafters for some reason changed the wall numbering on the en-suite plan and we had to raise a variation to get it corrected. Our copy of the plans are all good but the version being used (and the tile selection sheets) were wrong. It's not the first time we've had an issue with tradies using the wrong plans. DH just happened to catch the solar panels installers in time before they fixed them up according to the original plans, and we only signed off the variation to move them a few weeks ago! Anyway - back to the meeting. SS happily talked us through a number of other issues and queries we had. So we have now started "the list" which I will post later. We also tentatively discussed dates....... we are aiming for PCI on 20th Oct with handover 10 days later!!!! Now officially VERY excited The tile meeting concluded very well with assurances from SS that the remaining tiles would be delivered the following day and that he would lay them out where they are to go and all DH and I needed to do was check that the tiles were the correct ones and that they were in the right place....... Fast forward to Wednesday lunch time. DH gets a call from the SS informing him that the floor and wall tiles have arrived but NOT the bathroom border tile Imported Ceramics excuse THIS time, they hadn't been ordered - sorry. BS!!! SS understandably is not happy and extremely apologetic. He has said he will pick them up on Monday when he goes into the office but I have actually offered to go and get them myself. I only work around the corner from IC so I can nip over in my lunch break and then I can check that a) they are the right ones and b) be sure they'll get delivered!! So just when we thought things couldn't possibly get any worse I then get an email from our SS. The bobcat driver who has been preparing the garage for grano has taken out the front of the garage damaging the fascia, gutter, roofsheets and hardiflex!! All of which now needs to be replaced. http://imageshack.com/a/img673/646/aXXRvW.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img673/9036/xQOz1b.jpg Now you would think that on hearing this I would have lost it - but I was strangely calm. I'm not sure what this process is doing to me!! I crack the s**ts over a discontinued tile, but knock half my garage down and I'm fine - go figure! I guess all this combined with having a terrible time at work, trying to find a new job and waiting over a month to hear back from an interview has finally sent me doo lally flip So we now have 90% of our tiles and they are all in the right place but our tiler got bored and understandably has started a new job, so I'm not sure where we stand on the SS's completion date of the end of next week. He has ordered all the replacements for the garage and has assured us that he won't be using that bobcat driver again! I'm hoping that's all our dramas done in one big hit! I appreciate we've had a very easy build so far. Things were guaranteed to go wrong at some point, and accidents do happen, but I'm not sure my liver can take much more red wine!! Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 789Sep 03, 2015 12:08 pm Oh my! What a nightmare few days! You'll never want to hear about tiles tiles tiles ever again!! Eep your garage one of the trades reversed into our garage the other week and has taken off all our grey float and the corner beading, they're lucky they hit it how they did or they could of taken the whole corner wall down! All their red paint is left on it so wouldn't be hard to work out what tradie did it I guess haha. I hope they can speed it up by doing some more work whilst waiting for the tiler We're pretty much at the same stage now and I was hoping for PCI end of Sept with keys 2 weeks later :/ hmm Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 790Sep 03, 2015 12:15 pm Oh nikki sorry for the drama and stress. Thank god for this forum. I always felt no one else would understand/appreciate the roller coaster of building. And I'm pretty sure the house build turned me into a full blown alcoholic, I'm only slowly cutting back now . Hope they can get a tiler on the job asap and that they fix the garage etc quickly. Oct pci is very exciting and really just around the corner. It's surviving the next 2 months that'll be the challenge. Good luck with the new job. Building felt like a FT job at times so juggling it with the rest of your life can be challenging to say the least. Breath deeply and enjoy your wine Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 791Sep 03, 2015 2:19 pm Gosh nikki! Thats full on! Fingers crossed for smooth sailing for the rest of the build. Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 792Sep 03, 2015 6:27 pm I would be in shock!!!! Well I think that bobcat guy must've been imbibing a bit too....You have a great atttitude towards it though Nikki, keep smiling! Hoping this month won't drag for you and pci will be here before you know it!! Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 793Sep 03, 2015 8:56 pm Nikki I'm sorry you've been having a rough time at work building can be stressful enough but when you add things like that it just turns it into hell. There is nothing else I can say except fingers crossed everything gets fixed quickly and I can't wait to see your tiles <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 794Sep 03, 2015 9:06 pm Where was the bob cat guy looking ? Gotta wonder hey. But I guess these things can happen. After dealing with redink for a while now they have become more strict . They have had a few changes I think. And I think I'm very lucking that I have got things fixed that I did . Just make sure you pick up as much as you can before you get handover . I don't like saying to much on here because you never now who's reading . But I recon I would build with them again. Apart from a few ups and downs house is still standing lol . I can't wait to see your tiles . Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 795Sep 03, 2015 9:07 pm Wow Nikki.. I think red wine would be more than justified with all your hiccups lately!! I hope it all goes a bit smoother from here on in... And best of luck on the job front.. Hope you get some good news. Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 796Sep 03, 2015 9:49 pm Idiot bobcat driver! I guess you know they're going to have to fix it, not much you can really do about it. Hope that's the last of your tile dramas! Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 797Sep 03, 2015 10:59 pm wow Nikki you've certainly been given the run around this week. I really hope they get their act together and get things rolling for you. Again being the tiles you don't want them done in a rush. Hopefully the garage gets fixed ok and you won't be able to notice any repaired or replaced bits. Good on you for getting the tiles... If you want some things done well you got to do it yourself Haha Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. A Comedy of Errors! 798Sep 04, 2015 6:59 pm [quote="archetto"]Oh my! What a nightmare few days! I'm so glad that the bobcat was central. He must've been giving it some welly so I hate to think what the damage would've been if he hit brickwork!! Re: 1st build Redink, Lwr Chittering. I'm another couple of bottles down after last night!! Met the SS today and he reckoned tiler will start Monday. Here's hoping. No job yet - still waiting unfortunately.... Thanks Colleycrew. I think we've had our fair share of misfortune now! Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney. With the current cost of building… 0 4531 It seems very clear to me that your contract states that a security account does NOT need to be established so the answer to the builder is NO. If in doubt find a contract… 1 8660 2 31569 |
