Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 41Jul 14, 2015 7:35 am I think with the housing boom in Sydney, they just want to build as many houses as fast as they can. So the more changes from the standard template the less straightforward construction will take. The Isla facade looks fantastic. Are you upgrading the balcony to glass balustrade? Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 42Jul 14, 2015 8:21 am Oh yeah the isla facade comes with the glass balustrades for the Verandah as standard. build thread - viewtopic.php?t=78328 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 43Jul 15, 2015 10:16 am We would have LOVED the Isla facade but budget got in the way unfortunately . Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 45Jul 15, 2015 3:57 pm Hi Vikas, I will let iceybluey update us as I'm not sure which program she used or what techniques to render the photos. M also gave us access to the Geosite 3D program which you can choose your external colours and walls, however it didn't have all the bricks and other materials we had chosen for our exterior (for example the cat 4 bricks Metallix bronze wasn't available) build thread - viewtopic.php?t=78328 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 46Jul 15, 2015 4:27 pm Need some input from everyone please. What we did was add a storeroom behind the garage but in doing so, the roof above the garage has to change and the new garage roof has a different pitch and it looks hideous! Please see below. http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii548/Liem_Nguyen/Mobile%20Uploads/PhotoGrid_1436941268653.jpg I studied Vikas77 design and they did something similar with the study room and the roof looks better. Any comments would be welcomed! build thread - viewtopic.php?t=78328 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 47Jul 15, 2015 4:34 pm @Vikas - everything was done in Paint, no fancy techniques involved at all! Get a few images of your house facade and your choices of colours and the rest is just a matter of copying and pasting! Figured it was the quickest as the Geosite program is sooo fiddly! Good luck and hope to see your design soon! Sent from the palm of my hand. Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 49Jul 15, 2015 5:12 pm I'm happy with your garage roof design as aesthetically it looks more natural and doesn't stick out. Ours is a two sided roof which goes across the facade and ruins the look? build thread - viewtopic.php?t=78328 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 51Jul 16, 2015 7:36 am Also does anyone know the rough cost of getting double glazed windows for the entire house? build thread - viewtopic.php?t=78328 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 52Jul 21, 2015 4:06 pm Hi all, Just came out of a 2.5hrs meeting with M to finalise some structural changes to the tender and pay the $4k to accept it. We have significant design changes due to the previous revised tender as some elements didn't work as planned (eg addition of storeroom changed the garage room significantly which we didn't like the new roof design). So we are on our way to the next stage ready for the contract stage. Apparently, due to the amount of structural changes M has indicated it probably take 4-5 weeks to draft the contract? build thread - viewtopic.php?t=78328 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 53Jul 21, 2015 8:33 pm Congrats on accepting the tender Orpheus! What other structural changes did you have to change from your tender plan? Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78449 Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 54Jul 21, 2015 8:37 pm Woohoo congratulations on progressing to the contract stage! How exciting. 4-5 week isn't too bad especially if you made significant structural changes from prelim contract. We waited 4 weeks after accepting tender before contract presentation and we didn't make too many changes. Oh the structural changes are endless: 1. Updated a fair few windows (Awning windows) 2. Extended kitchen feature window to 3600mm wide 3. Delete storeroom 4. Shorten garage and extended study/guest room 5. Updated internal and external doors 7. Extended shower niches to be 400mm high 8. Square set ceiling for entire house! 9. Add partial facade pergola 10. Rearranged master ensuite 11. Expanded WIR by relocating WC 12. Remodelled a bedroom to be larger 13. Added corner feature windows to front and side elevation to leisure room 14. Confirm quote for window flyscreens ($1,400) for all openable windows also includes awning windows (installed inside the window) Apart from that M also advised the following is now standard for all M home designs 1. Gas continous hot water system 2. Melamine shelves to all robes, pantry and linen build thread - viewtopic.php?t=78328 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! 59Jul 21, 2015 9:05 pm Your home will be beautiful!
