'Grand' is a great description for the colour scheme and facade you've chosen. You must be stoked with it Also I agree those steps up to the house will look terrific. 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go! 149Jul 13, 2015 11:11 pm Holy hell 11m is massive, is it because your a corner lot? Looks like your neighbour is the same though. Thank goodness you have a big block. The steps make sense, plus they will look great, the retaining running along the side of the stairs will be great, will you run a garden bed down it? Or will grass butt up against it? Hope it's not raining so that concrete can be poured. What's your alfresco? Concrete, tiled or decking? Sorry about all the questions Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 150Jul 14, 2015 8:18 am I love the landscaping you've started. Those stairs out the front will be a massive feature! What colour is your garage door? Colourbond Terrain? Sorry about all the questions Apparently the extra few metres will protect us if the bushland across the road ever goes up so the whole street has the same. I also had a 5m side set back because of the corner block but we were able to put the pool there and save the backyard. There will be three tiers in the front yard. Up near the windows will be a 600mm wall running parallel to the steps and around the corner, there will be a garden above that. Then about halfway down there will be another 600mm wall running parallel to the steps and out to the side boundary. This will create a level area above it that will go round the corner as well and will be grass. And then there will be another 600mm wall at the bottom right on the boundary running the same way and around the corner to the back of the block. There will be a garden above that. Hopefully it will look something like the landscape plan in my thread. Both alfresco's are tiled. Same tile as our living area's (outdoor version). These will go around the pool as well plus black granite copers. Steps are being poured as I type this Driveway is scheduled for Thursday. Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 152Jul 14, 2015 9:54 am M+JHillview I love the landscaping you've started. Those stairs out the front will be a massive feature! What colour is your garage door? Colourbond Terrain? It's called the "TimberCoat" finish and the colour is Merbau. This was the closest match to our front door. Looks good but was a $1k variation. Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 153Jul 15, 2015 10:48 am Steps were poured yesterday http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p556/Matthew_Medlin/Steps.jpg Driveway is planned for tomorrow assuming the weather plays ball Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 154Jul 15, 2015 11:12 am Found you again! Garage door sets everything off, and the steps are great, I must go back and find your landscape plan Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 155Jul 15, 2015 11:14 am I went and had a look at your landscaping plan! Woo it will look fantastic (gosh your going to have your work cut out for you), I'm undecided on what to do about our alfresco originally we wanted to put wooden decking to the alfresco and portico but I just don't think it will go, tiling might look nicer. Hubby is happy to build all the decking. Even considering the timber crete concrete stamping. Wow your stairs look brilliant, super impressive. Keep that sun shining for your driveway tomorrow. Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 156Jul 20, 2015 10:07 am Matt1 Yeah, it's an 11m setback Would have liked for it to have been a little less but it was a council condition. I wasn't thinking of steps either but the builder suggested it as our driveway is a bit steep and it could get slippery in the wet. Decided to go the full width of the front porch instead of only half width. Was thinking today that it might look a bit imposing when it's finished but I think the alternative would look a bit funny as the retaining walls will come up to the edge of the steps Hi Matt Can you supply the details of who is doing your stairs and drive way, we are building near you (off curtis road) with Wisdom as well. Was an 11 metre driveway expensive to concrete. JaMel Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 157Jul 20, 2015 10:36 am Modern Concrete (www.modernconcrete.com.au) is doing it (I'll get them to do the area around the pool when I get to that too). I found them on here. George lives in the Grey Gums estate, his number is 0410 349 351. They've done at least 3-4 houses in the estate now. Between the driveway, stairs and a short path around the left side of the house there's over 132m2 of concrete. The cost was a little over $100/m2 inclusive of everything. Unfortunately the driveway got called off due to expected rain. Now scheduled for tomorrow. Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 159Jul 20, 2015 11:17 am Bugger least it's scheduled for tomorrow, bet you can't wait to have that in place. Has your pool been poured yet? Going to start getting quotes for that this week Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - 2 weeks to go 160Jul 20, 2015 2:15 pm Pool was poured after the roof went on. Now it's waiting on the slab to go around it which is waiting on the retaining walls. We're $35k into the $50k total cost. I need to pull my finger out so it'll be ready for summer. Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included.
