Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New build in Baldivis Parks-HBC 11Apr 01, 2015 10:06 pm dalemengel Looking good jlo1990! I too did the whole building thing by myself, no partner but did have my mum to lend a hand and run ideas past, even though she knows nothing about building! It wasnt as stressful as I thought it would be, but definitely stressful! I have 3 bed and a multi purpose room that I put a door on - that way it can be used as a 4th bedroom in the future if needed. But as it stands at the moment, a big house for a single bloke! Haha Look forward to following your building progress! Thanks dalemengel! Nice to hear from a fellow solo builder! Im lucky in that i have a friend building a month or two ahead of me (her slab is down) and one thats a couple of months behind (shes waiting for title) so ive got a few people to bounce ideas off. The one who's ahead of me went to prestart with me and her experience was invaluable! I considered a door on the theatre, but i went the vain route and decided id rather show it off haha. Plus i can just chuck a fold out couch in there! Im pretty happy with the block + the plan. Like i said, at 308sqm its not the biggest, but the house is gonna feel huge when its just me and the dog! Re: New build in Baldivis Parks-HBC 12Apr 01, 2015 10:26 pm I was silly and didnt really take many photos of my choices, but here is what i do have. Apologies for the quality of the photos, my phone camera is not the best. Im heading back to the block on Monday so ill take photos of my block and the soon to be park across the road then! I flat out HATE vaccuuming and i hate how hard carpets are to clean, so thought it would be better for me to laminate I have a laminate floor in my bedroom at the moment and i love it. So easy! Have a dark feature (chocolate brown) wall render (master bedroom wall) lighter render for the rest of the front, light garage door and gable, dark colorbond roof and dark grey pavers. Hope it turns out alright! We're in neighbouring estates! Yeah i had a long wait for titles, not as long as you it would seem, but i got titles less then two months ago and things are flying now! It'll go quick! Ill keep an eye out for your thread! Re: New build in Baldivis Parks-HBC 17Apr 01, 2015 11:39 pm Natalie92 Sounds great! I am Hoping mine starts to move quickly now it's been a long wait hoping to be in by this time next year I can imagine! Ive been impatient with the nine months ive had to wait, cant believe what you're going through! Do you mind me asking what's been holding it up? Re: New build in Baldivis Parks-HBC 18Apr 01, 2015 11:43 pm The land wasn't developed and they started a lot later then expected, so that held up the titles and it was at council for extra 4 weeks then it should have been. Been lucky our builders held our price for us with no price increases. I only put up with the wait as my aunty is the land developer and she got me the land haha Re: New build in Baldivis Parks-HBC 19Apr 01, 2015 11:45 pm Natalie92 The land wasn't developed and they started a lot later then expected, so that held up the titles and it was at council for extra 4 weeks then it should have been. The less stress before the build the better! Re: New build in Baldivis Parks-HBC 20Apr 02, 2015 11:42 am Just got a call saying they had begun siteworks this week, slab should be down next week (depending on how much the easter break delays things) and practical completion is around six months from slab down...so all things going to plan im looking at a late October-November move in yay! Looking forward to heading down to the block on Monday, even if it is just to see some sand has been moved around Hi, Would you please share some photos of your Orlando 20 HBC build? I would like to get some insight on the living and dining area. Thank you 0 1714 Fig Landscapes has produced an e-book and native plant index, available for purchase from their website.
