Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Tiling in Perth 16Mar 31, 2015 9:24 pm Hey Jelbell! I am following your build as well and we are nearly neighbours I think! We will building on Haricot street Tuart Ridge just behind the new IGA and Makaybe school! That sux about your tiles.... we got told our tiles are all mitred as we went the display spec Stoneleigh display.... will see how that goes!!! I also wanted to explore the option of using 300x600 on wet area floors.... I don't see why not.... but if they give me the **** I'll delete their tiling and do it myself. There is a fine line between convenience and price IMO. I am already doing my own driveway, verandah, alfresco, tiles and feature doors. Can add carpets and wet areas if need be! Geez..... we spend all this money on their houses and then they say no to a certain tile?? So am I to assume they use Tile Expo for their tiling?? Hoping to go and look at more tile options this weekend so will have a look. As for the glazed, I am with you honestly. I am mildly OCD and have a 19 month old so I would prefer a lapatto/semi polished tile.... just need to convince my wife! Lol! And I still want some shine but a mirror tile would be hard work. The Nova Lapatto Bianco - rectified from Crosby tiles looks good to me!! Just want to see it for myself! http://www.crosbytiles.com.au/600-2/ Re: Tiling in Perth 17Mar 31, 2015 9:49 pm about the polish tile, if you pick the dark colour it will definitely show the marks, but if you pick the light colour it won't. My mum house has polish creamy porcelain tiles, can't see the foot print at all. Re: Tiling in Perth 18Mar 31, 2015 10:02 pm awcarroll Caraf88, that sounds good! The tiles we liked were marked $85 a Sqm but we were told that was the builders price.... they could do a fair bit better direct to us! Can I ask who your tiler is?? I need to get some quotes underway... can you PM me some details and where you have seen his work?! I'll write the details on the thread once I have them, my partner has them and he works up north at the moment. Thought I should add aswell, majority of builders won't let you delete tiling to the wet areas as it would void the structural warranty if you do because of waterproofing to the tiles. It did say in the contract that they are not responsible if their tilers can not lay them though. Our tiler laid ours fine. One area where they didn't the builder had them redo it. Building our first home - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75306 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7945 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones. Bugger of a job getting the old… 0 8216 4 14811 |
