Soooo I think we'll be painting thankfully! The floor guy said it would look better as the paint goes all the way to the slab rather than just the top of the floor and less chance of getting paint splatter on the new carpets and timber. Any news of brickies? Re: Redink Battleaxe - no brickie BUT thoughts on painting p 278Oct 31, 2014 8:17 pm My last paint for 250sqm was $5K Do floors first and then risk splatter on floor, not good if going with floorboards. Not so bad with tiles. Paint first and then floor installers will damage new painted walls with tiles and boards by smacking into them, not a big drama in carpeted areas. At least you should have some left over paint to patch if you did paint yourself or had it done after handover. Have builder do internal paint and walls come out nice cos builder did both. Pay for paint after handover and painter says walls not so smooth. A case of painter blaming builder or is painter being honest and it was builder who cut the corners and not done a good job on walls. Either way no good for you. My last painter claimed to be an artist, and he was quite good, but he cracked me up when he said he coundnt do much if the canvas on which he paints is rubbish to begin with. Most will sand back the worst of it but no matter the colour used the shadows will be evident when the light strikes at the right angle. We'll have so many things left to do after handover that I'll welcome being able to postpone one of the expenses! Painting sounds like it will be fun... MalSannie Justy I think we may decide to wait with the paint, if this would mean we'd not have to spend more on patching up afterwards. That's what my DH thinks too MalSannie but I'm tempted to just patch up later down the line...I'm terribly clumsy and I'd be so devastated if I got paint on the floorboards once they're laid!!!
