Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1125Mar 17, 2014 4:45 pm Kjhosko I had a look at Vatche's blog and it took him 7 months from slab to keys inc the Chrissy shutdown. I would have loved to be in by Christmas but it's slowly slipping away. We have been at council 3 weeks so fingers crossed we get an answer in 3 weeks. If we get close to Chrissy I don't think we will put too much pressure on them as I don't want them to rush and do a rough job. But we are lucky and when we sold our house moved in with my parents so it's ok to wait a bit longer. It would be nice, but I doubt you will make it by Christmas. We got out of council just before Christmas, but even allowing for M being on holidays, it still took from late January till the last day of February to get out of the pre-construction phase. Then the 20 days countdown before construction starts began, so we still have no action on our block as yet. The 20 days ends at the end of this month, so presuming that takes us to the end of March, we then have a 32 week building timeframe, which takes us to the middle of November. So I am quite hopeful that we will get in before Christmas, but as you're a couple of months behind us, my guess is that you may get caught up in the builders/M having Christmas holidays..... maybe moving in late January/early Feb? I hope I'm wrong, and they move quickly for you, but I guess its better to be realistic, and then you may even get a nice surprise and get in earlier! Our blocked has been levelled this morning Yay!!! Another exciting step!! No action on our block as yet ..... ........ but we have received a letter giving us the name/details of our SS. So I guess we're getting closer to something happenning! Our blocked has been levelled this morning That is sensational news Pikey!!! Our consultant at colours seemed to think we would be in by Christmas but I'm not too sure. Given that I would be on school holidays over Christmas, it would be ideal to move in then (alongside not wasting $3K on unnecessary rent over the shutdown period). Fingers crossed for all of us - including Kjhosko. Kj, if you haven't already done so, ring Council every couple of days (this was my job years ago when I worked at the swimming pool company). They eventually get sick of you and push it through to keep us quiet. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1128Mar 17, 2014 10:03 pm There is around 5-6 week difference between single and double story build. Ours was 7 months to build as double story including 3 weeks break at xmas time. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1129Mar 18, 2014 6:23 am Vatche There is around 5-6 week difference between single and double story build. Ours was 7 months to build as double story including 3 weeks break at xmas time. Is that from slab to keys Vatche? I'm hoping that if they start building by mid may we'll be finished by mid October - mid November. I hadn't even considered having to wait till after Christmas. We are a single story build but we have added two more rooms, skylights and an industrial 11m wide concertina door so not sure if this ads much to a normal single story build. A recent cello builder reported 4 months including Christmas break. We are still waiting for our electrical appointment and peg out so not sure how much longer it will be till our slab. It's fun to speculate together and share our thoughts. By this stage I am getting good at being patient with every delay as I'm sure you are all familiar with. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1130Mar 18, 2014 11:37 am That recent Cello builder was us. We had our pci at end of February but still waiting for them to fix things up. It has been 3 weeks since our inspection. We started building end of oct 2013. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1131Mar 18, 2014 1:23 pm Hi everyone, My wife and I are doing a knock down re-build in the Sutherland Shire. We have found the Masterton threads extremely valuable for helping make our selections. We are getting towards the pointy end of pre-construction and hope to see a slab materialise within the next couple of months. By the looks of your timeline it won't be long until your build begins. How did it feel to see your house demolished? Were you sad? Or excited for the future? Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1133Mar 18, 2014 8:38 pm Hi Pikey, thanks for the welcome. It sounds like you are getting very close too with the block scrape. It was definitely sad to see the old place go - a 1955 asbestos classic that was fully 'un'-renovated! I think the previous owner woke up one morning in 1971 and decided he wasn't going to do one more thing to improve the place . We were worried it may be heritage listed if we didn't make a move . Our engineers peg out was done today, so I think we should have our final contract price shortly and hopefully a kick off date. Our port-a-loo has arrived on our block! One step closer to work beginning!! A few questions to those who have gone before us..... obviously this will depend upon our SS, but generally how often do most of you visit your site? We live very close by ours, and would be there pretty much every day if I can, but don't want to p-off the SS! It is our house, after all, and I want to watch the progress, take photos, etc. Also, we have a 32 week construction ...... this will take us to mid November. Weather etc permitting, can we expect to get the keys & move in around then, or is there still more of the process to get through before we can hope to move? Council or M..... is there other stuff required to get occupancy? Thanks!!!! I was told 26 weeks but Im not sure if that will be. its week 9 of our build. I just got billed for the progress payment for the frame. Not sure when the brickies are going to start. Id love it if it was built within that time frame. The contract says 200 working days from when the 20 days pre-construction period is over. If that is the case, we wouldnt be in for aaagesssss! 4 17000 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16258 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20425 |
