SLAB! Part Deux 228Nov 23, 2013 9:33 pm ..............and for your next trick, the Powerball numbers, please. We've not seen the sunset from the balcony yet. We nearly caught it on Wednesday when we dropped child #2 at cheerleading class but missed the actual sunset by about 2 mins. There's plenty of time, opportunity & wine Cheers mfga & AKB. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour. SLAB! Part Deux 229Nov 23, 2013 10:33 pm woohoo looks impressive! and can't get enough of that ocean view any idea how long it takes to brick up the second level? Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour. SLAB! Part Deux 230Nov 23, 2013 10:58 pm Thanks Janice. The upper storey is timber framed and clad with EPS (structural foam insulation) and then rendered. The framing carpenter is booked for next week so hopefully it should start go quite quickly. Our SS said he was trying to catch back up after the 'disappearing brickie' and 'wrong floor truss' hold-ups. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour. SLAB! Part Deux 231Nov 23, 2013 11:00 pm janicec woohoo looks impressive! and can't get enough of that ocean view any idea how long it takes to brick up the second level? Second level is timber frame with EPS (polystyrene) cladding and rendered so wont take long at all. Our upper level 'walls' and roof frame all siting in our rear laneway waiting for slab to go down. Intriguing to see how it works... My Thread (Halls Head Beach House): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67006 Ben Trager - Secret Harbour. SLAB! Part Deux 232Nov 23, 2013 11:07 pm Oh really? Never seen that before! Look forward to seeing the transformation Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour. One Day! 233Nov 26, 2013 12:01 am We've gone from a single storey to a two-storey house in one day. The timber framing was partially-assembled before it was delivered. Now they've started putting it together it's revealed quite how badly out the slab is.
This has resulted in the slab protruding out from under the frame at one side of the balcony by about 30mm. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the frame overhanging the slab at the other side of the balcony by about the same amount Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We reported this to construction hoping that they'd come up with a fancy way of rectifying it. A piece of angle has been bolted onto the side of the balcony slab to mount the one of the posts to. This is how we imagined the the post would be mounted on the balcony Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ However this is what we've been given on the other side. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Could it get any worse? 236Nov 28, 2013 1:19 am Thanks janice, It's very difficult to see the funny side, I wanted to smash the whole frame to the ground tonight (If it wasn't for having to pick my daughter up from cheerleading I may have done.)
Yet again they haven't said anything. I sent an e-mail asking them to look at the mis-match of frame and slab and they ignored the fact the slab was wrong and said "Sh1t we'll never get the posts on the balcony now, lets find some way to fix that" This is what is SO annoying! They want to fix the symptom of the problem not the cause. This only works when there are individual mistakes, not multiple! Re: Ben Trager - OMFG PLEASE DO SOMETHING RIGHT!!!!!!!! 237Nov 28, 2013 9:12 am Yeah I'd be upset too. Are you getting an independent inspector in? http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Ben Trager - OMFG PLEASE DO SOMETHING RIGHT!!!!!!!! 238Nov 28, 2013 10:28 am Wtf? You gotta go straight to the man at the top before they continue to ruin your house... The things they did for the balcony sure look d0dgy!! Re: Ben Trager - OMFG PLEASE DO SOMETHING RIGHT!!!!!!!! 239Nov 28, 2013 10:50 am Wow you are going through a rough period has anyone spoken to you today yet? I would be thinking about getting an independent building inspector ......you don't want your balcony to be one of the ones that you hear about collapsing 20 years later (not the balcony obviously but the post support and the wall etc) <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Ben Trager - OMFG PLEASE DO SOMETHING RIGHT!!!!!!!! 240Nov 28, 2013 11:35 am Get a building inspection done ASAP, deal with fact and before they hide any issues with their pushing on mentality. There are a number of inspectors listed on homeone threads, make it your next call! I think the proposal that a supply and demand curve are a natural law are well exaggerated. Wages never seem to follow this curve, and also prices for supply are sticky… 18 19057 Go to an actual paint store, not bunnings. Dulux even have trade centers.
