It’s been 6 weeks and we have been following everyone else’s progress. We now have the contract and are just waiting for the bank approval. All going well we might be ready to sign a contract next week. Does anyone have any final tips before signing a contract. - has anyone made any changes to the Masterton contract?, - any things to look for? - any things we can negotiate, etc etc.?? Our thread. I went over my plans a million times and Im not joking and I missed 2 crucial things one they kindly fixed even though they said no changes the other didnt click until I saw the finished product and that was entirely my fault. The lucky thing with you is that your home is on display where as ours wasnt so we couldnt physically see what you get. Overall we have been plesantly surprised the home has outweighed our expectations by a mile viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46741 Clovelly - Masterton Homes 5% to M 290312 CDC 21/06 20 days 29/08 Slab 17/09 Frame 26/09 Bricks 24/10 Roof tiles 20/11 Re: Masterton Villina 32 Contemporary - First Plans 25May 12, 2013 8:00 pm you can still miss things, it's so full on. I missed a huge thing!!! a window!!!!!!! I only like sliding windows and one of the biggest windows in the house isn't a sliding window, I remembered all the others minus the big one, only realised when it got installed....opps The other thing we stuffed up was the glass on the windows, we through we had upgraded to low e glass but had actually only gotten tinted glass. Reason I ask is because we are considering doing downlights after the build but not sure how difficult this will be downstairs? I can inform you, downlights, or any ceiling cabling after handover would be an electrician's nightmare! View the photos on my blog to see how the second level flooring are built. Re: Masterton Villina 32 Contemporary - First Plans 38Jun 23, 2013 3:50 pm red brick Thanks Ricaaa, Does anyone know if Masterton attach the downstairs ceiling direct to the beams or onto battens attached to the beams. Reason I ask is because we are considering doing down-lights after the build but not sure how difficult this will be downstairs? We had the electrician run all the cables to our designated down-light spots but will be putting in the down-lights after.....which now thinking about, I would have rather just gotten the M contracted electrician, to do all the extra work we wanted even though I'm sure it would have cost a bit more, now it means we have to find and book an electrician in after we get keys. I don't know how much electrician's charge so don't really know if it would be a few dollars or a few hundred dollars extra between finding someone and using the M contractor. I don't know how much electrician's charge so don't really know if it would be a few dollars or a few hundred dollars extra between finding someone and using the M contractor. I just had my electrician friend come in and go over our electrical and light fittings plan, he was glad we had M do all the downlights or any light points for downstairs. He is licensed electrician and I would not touch it, even though I could do it myself (Installing the new light fitting) I rather get him do it, so to avoid any insurance issues in the future. You don't want to spend all that money, than an unforeseen accident cause major damage, only to realise that insurance will not pay do to unlicensed work. I expect under $1k installation work, including 2 of heated lamps in the bathrooms. That is not including any of the light fittings we need to buy Re: Masterton Villina 32 Contemporary - First Plans 40Jun 24, 2013 1:45 pm Thanks vatche and ricaaaa. Think we will get down lights in great room and leave the upstairs as standard fittings until we really want it. Looking at data now, not the 16 you had ricaaa, maybe just front and back up and downstairs. (4). We had the tile appointment but ran out of time so have to go back for a second which i don't want to do for the other appointments. Thanks for you help Our thread.
