Thought i'd ask some questions here to help out my parents with colour selections, electrical, NBN etc. I'll start with colours. We initially decided on a very dark interior colour but we have been given a few days extra to change our selections, so we're gonna change that. Our new pick from the Taubmans colour chart is either Romany Marble, or Smooth Pebble. Does anyone here have any thoughts on those two picks? At first sight I liked Romany Marble although if it has more of a pink tinge than I would prefer Smooth Pebble. We are building a modified Sheridan 38 with the Gallary facade and I've been tweaking the stock image from Clarendon's website with Photoshop and used the colours we've picked to visualise what it may look like. I've created a link below to see that. Facade Colour scheme (Taubmans): Cladding - Leatherwood Main house render - Coach House Balcony Render - Almond Ice Feature Column - Stone OR Tiles I'm happy to hear your thoughts on any of the choices Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 15807Aug 24, 2016 9:37 am pandj.lydds leese k3nnis Good idea. But I wanted everything to be ready after I moved in. I guess I am paying a premium to do that /quote] We hot Clarendon to do downlights, but didn't put as many as they said, we almost halved what they recommended. (We did a a lot of research and electrician friends said it was an over kill the amount they were putting in each room) That saved us a bundle. And we also wanted lamps in the living areas, I have some nice ones for when we move in. Oh and the downlights are dimmable, so getting an electrian to change switches to the dimmable ones after handover. Building a Modified Madison 37. Hi Leese, do you recall how many down lights you needed in the rooms? We have our electrical appointment this week and we don't need as many as they say it would help to reduce costs. Thanks Lydds That is our electrical plan. Sorry it took so long I have been busy! Building a Modified Madison 37. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 15809Aug 24, 2016 9:48 am So just found out our SS is not going to be our SS anymore. Not too heartbroken as he never called us and never actual did anything with our concerns. But by his estimate we are about 6 weeks out (I don't think so), but sucky time to lose him. Shouldn't they make them finish the jobs they are currently on, for consistency sake? WARNING TO ALL THOSE AT TENDER / COLOURS STAGE. pay extra for waterproofing! We only just realised after looking up building codes that they do not waterproof the shower area. They do the bare mimumum which is required, but if you want it to last get the whole shower area waterproofed. For what would cost them about $60 in labour and supplies, it is a stupid place to 'cut corners'! Don't make our mistake! Building a Modified Madison 37. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 15810Aug 24, 2016 9:50 am Has anyone had a kitchen benchtop waterfall and laminate flooring??? Really worried they are going to put scotia at the bottom. Please tell me it isn't so!!! Building a Modified Madison 37. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 15811Aug 24, 2016 9:53 am leese Has anyone had a kitchen benchtop waterfall and laminate flooring??? You need to tell the flooring people you don't want scotia and you pay extra and also you need to tell the kitchen people you don't want scotia they need to come back and remove it again extra costs. I paid around $2000 all up to have no scotia for my timber flooring. Also the kitchen people said you need to have butt joint for the island instead of miter to have no scotia option. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 15812Aug 24, 2016 9:57 am Hi Leeleh we are still in our colour appt stage finalizing everything we are told that have to pay extra money for not to have the Scotia in the kitchen area....not sure if they will be around the waterfall benchtop. We are also deciding about putting tiles or laminated timber floors but not sure about water damage issues with laminate do you know anything about it. .. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 15813Aug 24, 2016 10:00 am We asked and asked for no scotia, but got told we had to have it in the kitchen (no option of paying not to have it grrrr). And have been promised by SS they will remove skirting so we don't have to have it everywhere, but skirting is now on... grrr Building a Modified Madison 37. We chose laminate as hopefully it is the most hardy with small children. Building a Modified Madison 37. You can have no scotia but your island bench needs to be butt joint instead of miter. This was done via the kitchen appointment. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 15816Aug 24, 2016 10:05 am Why don't you try talking directly to the person with whom you did your kitchen appointment maybe he will be able to help out like you can have it removed and pay but it will be not included in your tender price. .that's what we are told about blinds that we can get back to have it put in by them even it's not included in the tender just pay out of pocket. I am having a similar problem (details on my thread). Our skirting has been left off but no one told the kitchen people (apparently that's our job even though flooring is being done through Clarendon) so bench and kick boards are on. I HATE scotia. I was told yesterday that we could have paid extra to have the kitchen people come back and do the kicks and bench after floors if I'd told them to. I am no builder, am doing everything through Clarendon and yet have to sort this stuff out. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82062 Madison 37 - site start 16.2.16 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 15820Aug 24, 2016 12:17 pm We are having laminate (done after handover) and have no scotia and a mitred waterfall end. Isn't consistency great!!!! the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6723 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant.
