The fence was erected last week and has the ugly side obviously facing our block, the side in theory we should have sited our yard. However, due to parkland views and no neighbours our plan is to do the exact opposite and have our patio and garden on the opposite side, but our neighbours don't know this. Anyway, prior to going forward with this builder we got a last minute quote off the builder who is building next door. When we decided not to proceed they sent the most childish of emails to us which we ignored as I am not that petty to get into a silly argument. This same builder sent us a demand for half the cost of the fence yesterday, bearing in mind the land is not owned by us at this stage and also bearing in mind they didn't consult us or bear in mind that the fence would be ugly on our side from what could potentially be our garden! So I contacted our land sales who agreed that this was out of order and had already told this builder earlier the same day that we were not liable. So, we left it with her but due to their rudeness we will not be contributing and have been told legally we do not need too. We would have considered it, if the neighbour had consulted with us prior to building. The builder even forgot to mention to the land sales lady who lives in the sales office a few meters away and said they were 'going' to construct the fence. Not, that they had already built. As we were on the phone, she looked out of her window and low and behold there it was!!! So one more request for cash put away for the time being! Re: GJ Gardner - modified Peninsula 249sqm 296Jul 13, 2016 6:47 pm Glad you've found a solution! Hoping it comes back quick for you! Yay! Sounds like it's all on the verge of starting...very happy for you! Boo to the idiot fence guy and sucked in on building an ugly fence without consultation...that'll teach him for being so bloody rude! Re: GJ Gardner - modified Peninsula 249sqm 297Jul 14, 2016 5:31 pm I blame the builder, should have advised there client better. So glad we didnt pursue them as builders. Re: GJ Gardner - modified Peninsula 249sqm 299Jul 18, 2016 12:19 pm So we have the working drawings now and excited as all (in our basic level of knowledge) appear good. Finance application is now to be submitted later today or tomorrow, we return our final signed form today after lots of questions to and fro. Our builder states our working drawings are with the plumber and then set to go to council. Our land sales are happy with our drawings and submission and state as soon as finance is agreed we can have a quick settlement. We are desperately trying to hurry this build on so we don't have a property sat there empty prior to Christmas closing period but time will tell... hopefully by the first fortnight of August we can have a slab down! Perhaps even some frame work by the end of August. Hopeful thinking but we are not giving up yet! I am so impatient, I just want to know that there is nothing else outstanding from us and that we have a green light to GO. We've waited so long for our own home together, we've been together 8 years and initially lived in mine and my ex's home. Getting the keys to the property will be the end of a huge stressful journey of retraining as a mental health nurse, migrating across the world and settling down with our children. We hoped the journey would have taken less time but its taken 8 years, our eldest is now 12 and desperately hoping for some kind of stability soon. My boys are 10 and 5 and whilst sharing a room wasn't so bad for a while, they are desperate for there own space now they are growing apart in terms of likes and dislikes. I can't wait to open the first bottle of fizzy on our patio and hoping that we will be in, in time for Christmas day. We are also awaiting our puppy, something we wanted as a family for so long.... I am starting our puppy hunt and hoping to register and pay a deposit as soon as finances recover a little.
