If we want a high end result should we be looking at real timber floors, as opposed to engineered wood? I read that real timber can shrink etc and our builder (salesperson) also put me off them and suggested that engineered wood was the way to go ( but maybe that's what he wants to supply, I don't know?!). Also, I asked the builder about the cost difference between travertine and engineered wood and he said they were both about the same as travertine tiles are expensive to lay because they need screeding first. Is this all correct? Sorry so many questions....so confusing! Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 323Oct 18, 2015 2:30 pm Hi lazandjohn, If you have the option, go real timber flooring any time! But remember...NO steam mops on either!! Tiles and timber are 2 totally different looks. It really depends on the look you are aiming for. I'm looking for cork underlay to use under bamboo, but I'm having trouble finding it. What most offer is a strange mix of rubber with some cork flakes for a gigantic price of upto 20 bucks a sq.m. Is there a place I can get it in Australia, preferably Adelaide, or should I order it from overseas and not try my luck at the local market? Thank you for your help. Barnes, Check out the link below, they sell 3ml cork underlay for floating floors. I can't find it on their site maybe you have more time. If not give them a call or ask your local flooring store to see if they can get it. The rubber mix is the best one to get though. http://www.premiumfloors.com.au/brands/ ... cessories/ Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 328Nov 09, 2015 7:18 pm Got a floating floor? Got a steam mop? Get rid of it now! Take a look at the photos I have put together for you to see....the third photo is water and steam damage from a steam mop or excess water use on the floor. This applies to ALL floating timber floors. Bamboo, Laminate and Timber. In fact, get rid of your steam mops, they are bad for most floors! Glue down vinyl planks - the heat from the steam could make the glue release making the planks come up. We don't sell anything that I would recommend using a steam mop on. Has anybody had experience laying over tiles? the area is about 80m2 so i don't want to be removing tiles! i was thinking maybe getting some grout or mortar to top up the grout lines, and level off. Is this needed? There are a few high spots in the tiling, so i will need to hammer them out and fill in with mortar. i have been getting different responses from different shops, so i am really confused! Some say yes just lay over, others say i need to fully remove tiles Any advice would be appreciated Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 333Nov 23, 2015 10:10 am Hi Michelle, help please: we just got bamboo floors laid down in bedrooms and is very noisy when you walk on it in some parts of the room is this normal and will stop with the time? You can't do this with the glue down planks, the tiles should come up.
