Yeah, I've heard of your lucky purchases (and "some" potential plans )
But what a great idea - I could escape from our own flooring saga and just use your floor
And, are you really, really, really sure that a swipe with a clean tissue does not leave any oily residue? Or that you don't get your palms oily when you go over the floor (after you have thoroughly removed the last bit of natural (and unnatural ) oils from your hands by washing them in super strong detergents - as one normally does )?? Not even the tiniest bit?

Phew! (wipes sweat away) As long as she did a half decent job, I can now rest easier. I might even give G a call (oh, when is he back again?? Or did you call "The Other Guy"? ) Becoming a bit unsettled after hearing of someone else's coating issues and dreading of applying the same to our floor ...

My understanding is you can get some "rejection" where it doesn't soak into the floor but we had no issues. Looks fab. DH watched them apply it and said it is easy peasy. Only thing to take not of is to keep the coats very thin.

Hi RF,your floors look very nice.I would like to ask a couple of questions, have you found that oil gives floor enough protection [dents, marks etc].Is it easy to keep clean how often would you dust or wash.I have always had tiles and like them, down side cold in winter. Can you touch up marks with oil or does it need sanding.ps hope you are feeling ok your pregnancy

Hi patty. We chose cypress pine for a number of reasons. It has lots of character so will hide marks and they will add to the rustic look of the floor. It is also naturally termite resistant and significantly cheaper than other tongue and groove timber. It is not technically a hardwood but is classified as such because the properties are similar. We chose hardwax oil because we didn't want the toxicity of polyurethane finishes. The bonus is that if it wears on a particular spot or is scratched, that particular section can be buffed back a little and another coat of oil applied. We only had two very thin coats to have applied instead of three with other products. If you have a poly finish and it is damaged, you can't spot repair you basically have to do a whole room. Pm me where you are. I will send you details of the various help I have had as it may be helpful in your research.
Pregnancy ok. Expected to feel far worse than I do. But that can change. :p
