All the best ! Re: Carpet on Stairs - Pricked by smoothedge 26Jul 15, 2019 11:29 am billdsl we've got the same problem in the entrance to our carpeted rooms (living room and study mainly) where the smoothedge stuff is basically sticking through the carpet. its only a cheapish carpet but not sure what we should do with it, ive heard of people saying get a piece of timber and hit them all over but doesnt that kind of defeat the purpose of the smoothedge? Just tap the nails down with a hammer. This happens with thinner carpet sometimes Re: Carpet on Stairs - Pricked by smoothedge 27Jul 15, 2019 11:30 am hoel1934 blessedpeople I need some advice. My son was running down the stairs this evening when he suddenly yelled out in pain. Upon inspection, we found that while running down the stairs, his feet were pricked by the smoothedge. I felt around the stair while applying pressure and found nails coming through from the smoothedge which is installed at the end of each stair (where the stairs meet at a 90 degree angle). Being adults when we run down the stairs, we mainly place our feet in the middle of the stair and therefore dont step on the smoothedge. But as our son is still little, when he comes down the stair, his feet is pretty much placed where the stair is at the 90degree angle and hence got pricked. We have a lifetime warranty on the laying of the carpet cleaning burnaby. However, before I call the carpet layers, is it normal to be able to feel the nails coming through when one presses down on the smoothedge? I can't imagine it being normal as it seems like a serious breach of safety. P.S. We had hollywood style installed. Thanks in advance! I have a same problem. If anybody knows any solution please post here. thanks in advance Just tap the nails down with a hammer. This is common with thinner or open pile carpets. You will need to replace the entire stairs.
