Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Custom framed home WA - Lock up is looming 49May 07, 2016 6:24 pm A quick update until I get can get pics.... The air con is connected and all piped through. In a win for us, the unit was relocated from outside the kitchen window (facing the back fence) to being attached upstairs to the rear of the house (in the little alcove between the bathroom and the WIR of what will be the study / guest room). Another win is that despite wanting to lower ceilings all over the place, it's only in the laundry that they have come down. The biggest win is that we have gyprock!! We had a late night visit to site last night and were more than a little pleased to see the makings of walls and a lot of insulation. Definitely a pick me up after the builder has warned that it is likely that there will be still be stuff going on when he heads overseas. This makes the move during the upcoming school holidays somewhat less definite. Trying to be optimistic but to be honest, I don't have the time or energy to get too concerned just yet (over committed again!). Back to gyprock though, a nib wall in the upstairs bathroom is going to need to be dropped. I am a bit worried that shower will be awkward in layout. When I get back to site I'll take a picture to show what I mean. In other news, wiring for security cameras was meant to be going in today but the weather has been a awful so wouldn't be surprised if it was canned. JayaJaya is also planning on using Bianco Drift. Every time I see it I fall more in love. I'm waiting till I get my feature sliding door delivered to see if we should go a light brown and white, I'm still a fan of 2 colour kitchens, but maybe my 2 colour stone is enough and I should just stick to white in a satin finish. Yes like your every time I see it a love it, the sample piece doesn't do it justice. Re: Custom framed home WA - Lock up is looming 53May 07, 2016 11:31 pm Well the work has being stepped up in overdrive! We have now had the air con pre layed and a lot of the gib board put up on the top floor! We also have a ceiling in the upstairs lounge. The paint was put on the top floors and the scaffold removed to the house apart from where the second roof will be put on our room. We are happy with the colour and can't wait for the rest of the paint on the outside. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ducting between the two children's rooms. Makes it a lot easier to get my head around the house you're building that's for sure! Looking great - wish we were somewhere near this stage of our build already! Re: Custom framed home WA - Lock up is looming 56May 15, 2016 11:37 pm Another trip to site this morning and it is definitely looking more and more like a house. Most of the windows are in, the roof over our bedroom should go in early this week and the glass laundry door is ready to go in. The laundry door isn't what I would have picked but it's all good. Starting to spend more money on pretty new things for the house. Over the last week there has been the purchase of a lovely, giant, faux fur rug for the upstairs lounge and some new toilet accessories Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ In terms of more practical decisions, we have decided on the internal doors. Definitely not the most stylish choice but the most practical given a family affair with shopping and long hours away from home We are looking at the flat top mailbox and just want to confirm the space that it will sit on before hitting the final purchase button. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have started to look at the final lighting choices too. We need oysters for the three upper bedrooms and exterior lights. We found options online but are waiting to see Beacon offers in the way of Click Frenzy sales before we lock anything in. This is the preferred style for the front door, but it is a little expensive so we have started looking at cheaper alternatives. We plan on coupling it with a ship bell as a substitute to a door bell.
