Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 621Aug 24, 2016 12:34 pm Raining today, so no driveway cut *sniff sniff* which means no driveway tomorrow. Its meant to rain tomorrow as well - so who knows when my driveway will be cut now. I saw the carpetener was onsite doing his work. I spoke to him yesterday and arranged where my shelves would go and heights. Little upset though as I thought I got 4 shelves in the WIP, but they are considering the bench as a shelf - even though I paid extra for that. I decided adding a shelf is easy enough and will get hubby to do it when we move in instead of paying the high cost the builder will charge. However he said if he has leftover he will add it for me plus the return to the side as they didn't include that either I have done from window shopping and found the prefect quilt cover for youngest room - why can't I have $80 now......This is it Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think the white will go well with the grey walls, however the sheet set won't so have to keep my eyes out for a different sheet set to go with it. Fingers crossed its still around after we move and the old house is settled. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 622Aug 24, 2016 8:06 pm Thats scummy of them...it's a melamine shelf...not gold plate! Lol Hopefully the chippy will have some left over and can bung it in for you. Omg! That's gorgeous! I think the blue will look lovely with grey...a bit of an accent against the white on the doona. Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 623Aug 24, 2016 8:17 pm Oh no shell, the weather was so crappy today That's a bit unfair with the shelf, like Dee said it melamine not gold. That doona set is gorgeous!! Your little one will love it GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 624Aug 24, 2016 9:30 pm It is unfair about the shelf - we had a laugh today as he doesn't like my internal grey colour - like my dad he thinks it's to dark - so thinking since he hasn't started the shelves yet I might ask if I happen to drop some melamine off and just happen to leave it with the rest, would he install it? Thought it can't hurt to ask. I checked the site out and plasterer has been and finish the bulkheads in kitchen and laundry. Everything has been delivered for the driveway and I think he said the painter dropped by today to see where he is so maybe he might do some more this week as its inside with the rain. Got a new bill for the driveway - it's 56.6m2 and my allowance is 50m3, so another $670 to add I knew it was going to be over 50m2 but still got me down. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 625Aug 24, 2016 9:55 pm It's worth a shot hun..a tad cheeky but I'm sure it won't phase him anyway......is he an older guy? My parents think the dark grey I've picked is dower and morbid old people lol (mum likes cream ) Yay the plasterers been busy finishing off! Hopefully mr painter gets suck in now. Poo! Concrete is super expensive! More $$$ that's sucky. I've been roughly working out our fence and landscaping and realising that we will be lucky to scrape in. Here's a weird coincidence btw...I called a fencer in my new local area and asked for a quote...nek minute his bestie is the bloke behind us and he has been trying to get our details as our excavation dudes apparently cut into his block I don't know what I'm expected to do about that but I can't afford anything so hope he's not a turd. Soon find out. Chin up about the extra dosh...if anyone can make it all work out shell it's you! Wonder Woman! Besides after a few months in that gorgeous new home of yours it'll be all forgotten xx Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 626Aug 25, 2016 10:44 am Dee - Is your block lower than his? If it is he can ask you to either put a retaining wall there if its a safety issue, or you need to do a slope - so his block is the same level as it was and then the dirt slopes away from his block down to yours - otherwise there will be erosion and dirt will fall away from his block. One of the issue when building on slopes with neighbours above and below you. To save money for now, when they next come in doing a scrap ask them to do the slope method and then you can deal with retaining walls etc later. Yep he is a older person, I told him my dad hates the colour also and he is a painter. Like you said they are into the creams and peace colours - which I can't stand. Different colours for different generations I guess. I'm the one who has to live with it and I love it, so that is all that matters to me. Well of course today is a beautiful day, but the guy has moved onto the next job to cut....so who knows when he will return to my house. Honestly PCI in 3 weeks doesn't seem doable at the moment - there is way to much to do in that time frame. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 628Aug 25, 2016 3:12 pm We have exchanged *yay* ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 630Aug 25, 2016 3:30 pm Congratulations on exchange! We all seem a little bit stuck without much progress at the moment, well the threads I have been following so lovely to see these small steps to keep us positive that progress is being made. Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 632Aug 25, 2016 3:41 pm Again you're spot on...our block wasn't lower than his (slight undulation) but for some reason when they excavated they dug out 500mm in the far back corner we were surprised by it too and wondered why they went so far. So now we have a 500h wall to build I guess, more $$$$ Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 633Aug 25, 2016 3:43 pm Congratulations Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 635Aug 25, 2016 9:25 pm Thanks everyone. Also update on the new house - we are now LOCKED OUT. Which is good as it means now the locks are all installed - but sucks as now I can only see inside when someone is there. I still don't feel like they will have it ready for PCI in 3 weeks, but time will tell. My update for next week is just Tiler and driveway rescheduled but no time locked in yet. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 637Aug 26, 2016 6:51 am Wow I didn't realised you were weren't locked up yet Hmm if your tiler isn't starting until next week how can you have PCI in 3 weeks?
