Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11621Jul 13, 2016 5:33 pm Sandra - it's about time, hooray!! Gibson - It's exciting watching the house take shape literally. We've had the hot water solar panels installed and they've started the balcony railing. It's hard to see if anything has been done from the outside. Still got downpipes, removal of scaffolding, lower roof, aircon ducts and internal motor, M electricians plus alarms before gyprock. SS said 3 weeks ago that gyprock was 4-5 weeks away. If there are outstanding issues and/or new issues do they go on a list to be completed? https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11623Jul 13, 2016 10:17 pm Yes, another list that you sign Mgardz, similar to PCI. I recall ours was pretty long at handover, we didn't hold out as long as you guys for keys, we wanted "in" to a faulty new house as quickly as possible. Our rental was killing us! Everything got dealt with in the end ... Believe it or not, the "post handover" people are better to deal with, & quality better (though speed is not high on the list!). But i was happy to wait 3 months for "easy" fixes .... Nothing major. As we were told post handover & at 90 day inspections ..... "You'll get real tradies now." Shame they don't supply the real ones from day 1!!! Just get those keys as soon as yr last "major bugbear" items are done ... And let M worry about the rest later ... Post lots of pics on your blog ... We decided to go ahead with getting our keys last Friday although the M tried to delay again on Thursday as SS could not do the final walk through but we went ahead and for keys and did the final walk through on Monday, I had already emailed all outstanding issues to my CC. Today is move in day after being such a long process (2 years in August) it feels really surreal being here now in the end I will say what others before me have I love our home I love love love our choices would I do it again with M.... No would I recommend them... Not right now... MGardz we didn't sign anything at walk through so that worries me a little... Congrats WKVillina, hopefully we won't be too far behind. I'll ask CC about it as we are planning walk through Monday week after carpets are installed. That should be the last of the big ticket items for us. The rest are the fix ups in order. I'll be sure to post pics once all the proper furniture goes in, might be a few weeks as need to order and get them delivered. I couldn't bring myself to physically order anything until we knew we'd be getting keys soon as it would be another thing to break my heart with pretty things waiting for M to hurry up! Congrats rox82, wishing you a smooth build https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11628Jul 14, 2016 3:43 pm Villinaeliters - our rental is driving us insane. It's soooo cold. I'll have to remember your post in a few months Rox82 - yay congratulations WKVillina - I'm so glad to hear you love your home all the best the the move. MGardz - fingers crossed you have keys soon. I SMSd our SS on Monday asking for an update. We haven't heard anything back. He usually takes a few days then SMS's back some vague response. I know other M builds in the area are getting very frustrated with him. It takes less then a minute to respond to an SMS :/ Masterton Villina Elite 2016 23/3 Slab 13/4 Frame & Windows 24/5 Bricks 19/8 Roof 29/9 Gyprock 3/11 Paint Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11629Jul 14, 2016 4:18 pm S-VE - I know what you mean , while our rental is warmer than the now demolished Ice Palace I can't wait to get into our new well insulated , air conditioned house! Now for a slightly different rant, my bank (three letters, starts with 'A'), has still failed to make the first progress payment. Their process just stops and its left to me to chase them up to get things moving. Anyone know if M enforce their interest charges on late payment? We are way late now thanks to the bank. Just tell M the bank is being difficult. For us the bank wanted to do an evaluation on the house before paying the first instalment. I've never felt a house this cold before in my life. Tonight it's getting down to 1 degrees so I'm leaving the aircon on all night. Next winter we will both be in our new houses Masterton Villina Elite 2016 23/3 Slab 13/4 Frame & Windows 24/5 Bricks 19/8 Roof 29/9 Gyprock 3/11 Paint Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11631Jul 14, 2016 11:47 pm Same here Villinaeliters, we all put jumpers and slippers on when we go to the kitchen for breakfast especially during weekdays. Our kitchen doesn't keep the heat which is really frustrating. The air vents are right up near the split level stairs. Wish they were closer in the middle of the rooms especially as we have over 3m ceilings. Gibson - It has been really good settling into the house but now we've gotten very lazy and not much is happening to complete little jobs here and there. I'm looking forward to the day I don't have to deal with M in any shape or form. We received a letter today basically saying that M aren't going to fix the squeak in our upstairs floor because they didn't install the flooring. Helllloooo, the floors squeaked BEFORE floor was laid, for months and months and months so when one thought that the aggravation and fights were over, here they start all over again! Our final SS even said that the squeak is from the joists and explained to us how M will have to fix it. Great progress on your build. Has anyone here actually disputed a 90 day warranty item that M refused to fix and won? How? Also, did you ever get a copy of the list of issues like with PCI? We didn't. The M rep wrote stuff down but who knows what. I didn't sign anything either *shrug* Saltwater71 - We upgraded our stone but from memory it didn't cost too much, maybe a few hundred. WKVillina - Congrats!! Enjoy your new home. I'm still on the fence regarding whether I'd recommend M or not… Congrats Sandra and Rox82!! I've just spent the last week reading through the last 2 yrs of this forum! Wow! Lots of ups & downs. We have changed from another builder who wasted 6 months of our time in plans & tender stage to only come back with a tender 100K more than initially discussed in sales. Surely this company can not be anywhere near as bad in service? We have not paid the $3900 but are thinking about doing so as we just want to move on. Also, our council is known to take forever to approve private builds, is usually a quicker approval with a home builder? Any help, tips, etc will be highly appreciated. Thanks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11635Jul 15, 2016 10:19 am Mgardz- it's a yes from me as well KDR. Any help, tips, etc will be highly appreciated. Welcome Merlot_NY So many things I know now that would have been handy 2 years ago! My top tips: Site costs are going to be higher than you expect so put together a decent budget. Ask for everything in the tender , you can always delete stuff later. Allow for aircon upgrades, electrical, kitchen and flooring. M make 27% on everything you upgrade so consider what you can do after handover ( carpets , blinds, laundry & WIR fit-out) Check your tender and plans very carefully. We went to other builders too but found that M does provide good quality for the price. The consensus from this forum and others I know who have built with M is that it can be a taxing process but in the end you'll get a quality home. Best of luck on the journey. (Not holding my breath though)We just want to get on with our lives already and enjoy that fireplace whilst it's still winter lol MerlotNY if you haven't already you should read my blog. Tread carefully with M as our experience has been horrible and I'm not the only one...I wouldn't recommend them at all...I second Gibsons advice and also advise you should also make allowances for extra rent or mortgage repayments as m are probably going to take ages to build your house and they are going to repeatedly tell you it's because of the building boom not because of their inadequate way about things and inability to get a good trade. I don't think they are a quality builder if they have to get trades in more than once (or even twice) to fix poor workmanship and mistakes. We are nearly two years down the track and it's been the worst and we don't even have keys yet... https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ 4 16752 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16026 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20191 |
